man, i finally went back and read that tennessee article you wrote.

dude, that was sick. you were attacked like a twinkie at fat camp.

my eyes started to hurt from reading so much but my two favorite commetns were

"Don't you know not to end a sentence in a preposition?"

and i thought don't you know not to use a double negative? although that's probably not a double negative by definition.

and my other was the guy that kept calling you "THE POLLOCK"

if i were you, i'd replace Tim with "THE POLLOCK" and talk about yourself in the third person.

start narrating your life while your at it.

"THE POLLOCK is hungry. THE POLLOCK would like something to eat but not too heavy, because THE POLLACK has a pick up game later tonight where THE POLLACK is going to be raining 3's. Alert your local weatherman, THE POLLACK is gonna make it rain 3's."

i had 4 hours of sleep last night and 3 big cups of coffee, i'm a little hysterical. and i didn't even have a tiny human being crying at me. man, that's gotta be tough, i hope i 'm ready for this.

re Schnellenberger....I think he retires there.....6 or 7 more yrs. He's pretty young at heart. And I never go after anybody unless repeatedly attacked by someone....it's how I roll. You are a wonderful writer and I have tremendous respect for your ideas and opinions. :)

well jarvis jones is no small loss. he and joseph barksdale were going to be the bookends of the future. there's some other talented guys on this team though. it's a shame LSU will have one of the best OL's in the country in a year when they have qb problems. if ciron black goes to the NFL after 08 09 could have lots of inexperience among the hog mollies.

with hatch it's hard to tell. one of my criticisms of miles is his blind loyalty to upperclassmen (i.e. justin vincent in '06). most fans just want the guy who gives us our best chance to win. russel shepard who is a 5 star '09 commit will be tailor made for crowton when he comes up, he's the anti-perrilloux in his personality and maturity too. but that's waaayyy far off.

i missed all the media days stuff. gotta catch up.

yeah. i tell you, in my 2nd year, when dinardo got us to the indy bowl (he beat saban's MSU btw), you'd thought we reached the promised land. people were so starved for success in that dry spell from 89-94.

yours truly camped out overnight to get student tix to the indy bowl. now, i'd probably turn down free tix to shreveport. but shreveport has a lot to do with that.

in saban's defense he won a nat'l championship in year 4. meyer in year two, miles in year three. but honestly dinardo had some pretty good players in there for saban. he just let the team run wild and once we lost carl reese and hired lou tepper as DC, that was dinardo's death sentence. we were scoring 40 a game and giving up 41. 97 was a great year for dinardo. 98 we were preseason ranked #5 and had a losing season. that year we should have been good (faulk's senior season). LSU had a young but good team in 99 but the inexperience and tepper trying to install the 3-4 was a recipe for disaster. LSU's AD backed dinardo but the board of supervisors wanted him out due to his last two seasons. and some PR and politicking gaffes didn't help gerry D.
but dinardo was a good recruiter and if anything showed saban that talent was LSU's for the taking.

saban just took it to the next level. saban had the vision for the academic center for athletes which is one of the best in the country. he updated facilities (which are some of the best in the country now).
basically, when a prospect's official visit comes, they are impressed by LSU's facilites. that wasn't always the case.

i'll actually write an article about my view on saban and put it on here. i'm a lot kinder to him than most LSU fans just like i'm alot kinder to dinardo than most fans. hallman was just awful.

you can't take seriously everyone on the internet. that lsufreak guy isn't a guy. he's like a 10 year old kid who's dad does the site for him. jimson's like 20. hopefully when this kid doubles his age he'll have a more realstic view on things. i actually kind of like jimson now. he's pretty harmless if you don't take anything he says seriously.

go figure. you win a couple of NC's and tiger fans are easy to find.

students now have a lottery system in order to get student tix that they have to enroll in when they schedule classes.

when i was in school, i stopped by a fold up table across from the union on the day before a game to buy my student ticket for $3. they were $6 by the time i graduated.

that kinda makes me sound old. my freshman year was curley hallman's last year. my last year at LSU was dinardo's last year.

no bandwagoner here.

oooohhhhhh, if they kid had the common decency to come after the bama game i think we have a bye week!!!!!

Good to hear about the little one.

Since the draft, I've been really busy at work and at home (we just moved into our first house).

I've been sort of laying low, biding my time, saving myself for the season. I find it hard to keep up with things non-college basketball. That's the only thing I feel comfortable writing about and commenting on (my NBA stuff is just a train wreck and I don't know squat about football). I probably ought to be more "active," but I am more content to write while the games are going on. So we'll see... maybe I'll come up with something clever. Who knows?

Haha, that's a really good piece from last season. Dead-on. I'm expecting big things from E'Twaun this year, as I'm sure you are too. He averaged something like 17 points a game over his last 15 games.

How'd you meet your wife? My girlfriend went to West Side herself (and professes to have been a nerd in her Red Devil days, that's why I can joke about it).

And yes, I'm thinking about writing some stuff on Purdue football. I've been really down on the team the last few years, but Danny Hope is getting me fired up again with his recruiting philosophy.

Finally, I learned a lot in reading your Darrin Horn piece. I didn't realize South Carolina has been so down. As you implied, though, it'll be tough to build a top program in that state.

About Dominic James... He would've been the first elite recruit for Purdue in close to a decade. He's not an All-American, but he's an excellent penetrator that I think Purdue could use now.

Are you familiar with West Lafayette, Indiana? West Point is a tiny, hick town about 10 miles south.

yes i am a cbb fan but not nearly as much of a fanatic like i am for football. i was a much better basketball player than any other sport growing up so my heart is still there too. but to be honest, i don't know too much about LSU until the season gets rolling. but i'll be happy to contribute, but probably not at the same rate i would contribute for football.

but like you know, all the rules are out the window with the first born on the way. my better half is doing well (that was her who voted for me) and we just had a pretty important dr appt and ultrasound yesterday and everything is looking good.

here's to hoping your little one keeps stringing together some solid night's sleep!!

You've got a fan here man, I like your attitude and your style. I was reading some of the comments on "College Football: Stop Defending Your Conference" and its amazes me that the Big 10 is the only conference that has a problem with ranking them in terms of strength.

I'm an ACC guy but I can easily say the SEC is the best, the Pac-10 and Big XII are too. Keep fighting the good fight man.

well, i'm not a big fan of smack talk, but i can usually somewhat intelligently defend my points. that's what i was trying to do and if someone comes with a different opinion i always find it's better to not attack the person and keep it on a somewhat mature level. LSU fans have developed that reputation of being obnoxious and the best way to fight the stereotype is to not perpetuate it.

you know as i'm writing this i'm looking up at your short list.

Thanks for the comment -- I actually have been away from my computer for a WHOLE WEEK...with good reason :) I attended my first-ever NCAA games this weekend (the South Regional in Houston). Well, it's actually kind of interesting. My ENTIRE mom's side of the family went to South Carolina, while my ENTIRE dad's side of the family went to Duke. So I guess you could say I got a heavy dose of both of them growing. But my dad, being a dad, definitely pushed Duke a lot more onto me, so I grew up watching every Duke game with my dad always telling me stories about them. So, yeah, I'm a bit inclined to support Duke, and had I been smart enough, would've gone to school there, haha. But yeah, South Carolina is my priority though, Duke a close second.

Trust me, come football season I will be writing nothing on Duke and everything on South Carolina!

Sounds good. It depends on what question(s) who want to ask on the roundtable. My advice is to gather about four or five guys who you think are the best college basketball writers on here, so that you can get a professional and non-bias response from them. Hope that was enough info.
