Danny's Bio

With the recent promotion to a B/R Senior Writer and Featured Columnist, I figured we should update a few things on the profile.

I am one of the community leaders for two great sections—San Francisco Giants and Serie A.

On May 16, 2009, I took a walk on to a stage and was given a green degree case that signified the end of a five-year journey of personal growth and great achievements. I can now say I am a graduate of Humboldt State University. My last two years up in the friendly redwoods were spent as an intern in the Sports Information Department doing anything and everything. Covering sports and getting paid for it is awfully fun.

But now we're unemployed. That does mean more writing, though. And writing about the sports I love is definitely a good thing.

I am a baseball purist and root for my beloved San Francisco Giants every day of the year, no matter how they are doing in the standings. Is there really any other way?

Considering I'm not much of a religious fellow, my Baseball America Prospect Handbook has morphed into my bible. The yearly updates have formed a different sort of New Testament.

However, I do pray to Saint Lincecum every fifth day.

I'm also a huge fan of the most-storied club in Italian football history, Juventus. My admiration of the club can be pointed to one man, the world's best goalkeeper, Gianluigi Buffon.

I have also had numerous Juventus articles featured on foxsoccer.com since the beginning of 2009. For the teachers who told me I couldn't write about sports, I will use every single one of these articles as Exhibit A to make my argument as to why sports journalism is my passion and my future.

However, the regular appearances on Fox Soccer got a little tiresome. Sometimes being on there three times in a week gets drab and dull. I decided to take my work to the Los Angeles Times.

(Please sense the sarcasm. I love being on Fox Soccer's website.)

We like to establish our dominance with a fastball. We pitch inside when we have to.
