Jerry's Bio

I currently attend Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL. At the moment I'm a sports writer for the school newspaper, The Northern Star (www.northernstar.info).

A few things you should know about my editorial writing style. 1) I'm not afraid to be wrong, I read Jay Mariotti every morning so I guess I have a good role model at times. 2) I'm also not afraid to make brash assumptions on things either. Again, Mariotti. 3) I tend to say what's on my mind and I only say what I mean. If I don't believe something, I won't write it. That simple.

Other than that I am a die-hard Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. I hate the White Sox, especially their announcers and A.J. For obvious reasons I'm an avid Northern Illinois Huskies fan and still keep track of my high school teams, the Wilmington Wildcats.

This will be my seventh year writing for a newspaper and my first year writing exclusively for an online outlet. I'm looking forward to supplying the readers of the Bleacher Report with fine articles for all to enjoy, and I hope to spike the interest of a lot of you with my opinions and such. Hope you all enjoy. Thanks in advance for your comments and readings.

I can be reached for comments and suggestions at jerry.burnes@gmail.com.

a story i feel is getting overlooked.

  2. Hey Jerry, I promise this isn't spam or anything, but I run a blog at TheDailyCub.com, but I can't keep up with daily posts or anything like that, so I have been looking for somebody to run it. You have been doing a good job with Cubs writing on here and I was wondering if you could take over the blog for me. It's not much work and when it starts to make money, you get to split the profits with the person who actually owns the site. It's all part of sportsblognet.com so you have instant exposure, although it is a new sight that just launched from beta. Let me know if you would be interested.

  3. Hey man, it was a necessary article and not a bad one. I was just a little hyped up after the Sox win last night and probably a little on the edge. But yeah, it has nothing to do with Sox and Cubs, you know? Just writers sharing their opinions.

Lookin' forward to your next article.

  4. I look forward to your top 4.

  5. Thanks for the compliment

  6. Hey,

  8. Hey Jerry:
My Google news homepage tagged your bio page. Good to see you writing on here. Although I'd offer that the most unbreakable sports record is Cy Young's 511 career wins. No one will ever even get within 100 of it.
    Have a great summer. - Jim K.
