Michael's Bio

That's me on the right (and one of my brothers on the left). I enjoy taking in an epic sports battle in my bathrobe and slippers - with a glass of beer and a pipe. Born in Neenah, WI and bred at UW-Madison, I have had many an opportunity to smother myself in all manner of good sport. I enjoy writing both fiction and non-fiction. After graduating from the UW-Madison Journalism School in 2000, I quickly found the pay for entry-level in that field was like a paultry allowance from a step-dad who resents you. Now I work at a job out of "Office Space" that pays decent - but I continue to write.
Sports are a great lubricant for socializing, and they help a person unwind from the daily grind. They also make beer acceptable at all times of day, at least in Wisconsin. A warm welcome to all my Bleacher Report brethren (that also implies sisters).

Re: Bubba -- No real secret, just my (admittedly hackneyed) way of addressing the reader. The Internet can be a lonely place if you don't have anyone to talk to...

  6. When I was working on a report for sociology of race and ethnicity I got bored and started googling people and somehow landed here. I've been recommending your articles to some of my pals around the area...we're all enjoying them.
