Bob's Bio

I have been a "Bleacher Creature" since this site's inception, and started writing here about one year ago. I have written more than 400 articles, and lead a community of Cubs writers that is the best in the Blogosphere.

I am a contributor to WGN's Sports Central and Patrick Mauro’s Sports Overnight America Weekend (http://www.sportsbyline.com/bios/mauro.htm). If you're interested in bringing me on your show on behalf of B/R, send an e-mail to Aron Glatzer, Content Delivery Manager, at aglatzer@bleacherreport.com. Freelance opportunities should be directed to rememberthecoop@yahoo.com.

I am the Chicago Cubs Community Leader for B/R. I am ranked #1 in Chicago Cubs and MLB. I am ranked among the front page top writers as well, which is humbling considering all the terrific writers on this site

I should also note that I've recently discovered verbs, which has really brightened up my articles!

On a personal note, I have three kids, one of each. If you want to know more about me, Bleacher Report colleague Sam Wenk was kind enough to do a brief profile on me for B/R:

Bob Writes About

  • Bob's Activity

The Short List What Bob thinks about sport's most pressing questions

  • Favorite Athletes

I appreciate solid play, guts and determination like anyone, but I'm not into player worship these days. I must admit that over the years, I've been a fan of MJ, Larry Bird, Greg Maddux, Jim McMahon, Walter Payton, Rick Sutcliffe, Kerry Wood, Wilt Chamberlain, Muhammid Ali, Ryne Sandberg, Billy Williams, Tony Esposito, Bobby Hull, Stan Mikita, Keith Magnuson and Jack Nicklaus..

  • Favorite Sports Teams

Cubs, Bears, Blackhawks, Bulls (in that order). On the peripheral: Cowboys, Red Sox, Florida Gators, Fightin' Illini.

  • Favorite Coaches

Phil Jackson & "Da Coach" Mike Ditka

  • All Time Sports Moment

The Chicago Bears Super Bowl season of 1985. Every where you went in Chicago, the Super Bowl Shuffle was playing. Never got tired of it.

  • Most Memorable Game Attended

Believe it or not, it was a Chicago Cougars hockey game when Bobby Hull came back to Chicago and scored a hat trick. I got his autograph.

  • Most Unbreakable Sports Record

Most victories & complete games, Cy Young. These records can never be broken because of five-man rotations and the evolution of the bullpen. Also, number of steroids injected into Barry Bonds, although A-Rod is giving him a run for his money.

  • Ruth or Mays?

Ruth - he was a great pitcher in addition to a great hitter, despite being drunk most of the time

  • Unitas or Montana?

Montana. I don't remember much of Unitas. Then again, I don't remember much of last night.

  • Jordan or Russell?

MJ, although Jane did have a nice rack, come to think of it...

  • Gretzky or Orr?

The Great One. Orr redefined his position; Gretzky redefined the sport. I would actually rank Gordie Howe second all-time.

  • Pele or Maradona?

Pele. Besides, that Maradona chick is an overrated singer in my opinion.

  • Federer or Sampras?

Neither one looks good in a short skirt.

  • Tiger or Nicklaus?

Tiger will be the greatest of all-time, but my heart says Jack & Arnie all day.

  • Petty or Earnhardt?

    Tom Petty.

  • Schumacher or Senna?

    Alice Cooper

  • Pac 10, Big 12, Big 10, SEC, ACC, or Big East?

    Far East

  3. I think I found another virus author hating on the Cubs...

    http://bleacherreport.com/articles/214829-cubs-have-dumbest-fan-base-in-sports

I edited the piece to for vulgar language (you'll see where I added ***). Not a lot of substance to this other than just hating on Cubs fans. I left a nice piece of feedback after editing. Wanted to bring this to your attention.

A timely new member in the wake of our other friend being run off the site...

  5. Give this a read. So far, the O's outfield trio of Nolan Reimold, Adam Jones, and Nick Markakis are getting credit. And they deserve it. Reimold is a ROTY candidate, Jones is an All Star and Markakis is himself. But what other Oriole deserves credit?
