About

I can be found on Chicago Bears Huddle now. Follow me on Twitter: @bobwarja.

I've written 1,340 articles for Bleacher Report, in many genres and sports, and I always wrote with passion, conviction and a sense of humor. As Featured Columnist, covering the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs, I was often ranked as the #1 writer for those teams.

I am available for freelance work—contact me at rememberthecoop@yahoo.com. I can write about anything, especially since I recently discovered verbs.

Short List

  • Favorite Athletes

D-Rose, Brian Urlacher, Jonathan Toews, Walter Payton, Michael Jordan, Dan Hampton, Jim McMahon, Kerry Wood, Ryne Sandberg, Billy Williams, Fergie Jenkins, Mark Grace, Rick Sutcliffe, Andre Dawson, Greg Maddux, Larry Bird, Wilt Chamberlain, Tony Esposito, Bobby Hull, Stan Mikita, Keith Magnuson, Jack Nicklaus.

  • Favorite Sports Teams

    Cubs, Bears, Blackhawks, Bulls

  • Favorite Coaches

Phil Jackson & "Da Coach" Iron Mike Ditka

  • All-Time Sports Moment

The Chicago Bears Super Bowl season of 1985. Every where you went in Chicago, the Super Bowl Shuffle was playing. Never got tired of it.

  • Most Memorable Game Attended

Believe it or not, it was a Chicago Cougars hockey game when Bobby Hull came back to Chicago and scored a hat trick. I got his autograph.

  • Most Unbreakable Sports Record

Most victories, losses & complete games, Cy Young. These records can never be broken because of five-man rotations and the evolution of the bullpen. Also, number of steroids injected into Barry Bonds, although A-Rod & Clemens probably gave him a run for his money.

  • Ruth or Mays?

Ruth - he was a great pitcher in addition to a great hitter, despite being drunk most of the time

  • Unitas or Montana?

Montana. I don't remember much of Unitas. Then again, I don't remember much of last night.

  • Jordan or Russell?

    MJ

  • Gretzky or Orr?

The Great One. Orr redefined his position; Gretzky redefined the sport. I would actually rank Gordie Howe second all-time.

  • Pele or Maradona?

Pele. Besides, that Maradona chick is an overrated singer in my opinion.

  • Federer or Sampras?

I'll pass - neither one looks good in a short skirt.

  • Tiger or Nicklaus?

    On or off the course?

  • Petty or Earnhardt?

    Tom Petty.

  • Schumacher or Senna?

Let me get back to you on this one

  • ACC, Big 12, Big East, Big Ten, Pac-12 or SEC?

Living in the Midwest, I have to say the Big 10

Now that I've read your profile, I understand the deficiency..ANYONE who would assent Urlacher(and I'm gonna keep the comparison position-specific, so as to not be too verbose)over Wilber Marshall as one of his "Favorite Athletes" can't be credulously discerning, so it explains why you have Wil at number 44 in your "Greatest Bears" list. It also elucidates the COMPLETELY FALSE statement you have in the annotations on the slide representing Wilber. I'm cognizant that the title "Reporter" in today's vernacular is somewhat of a misnomer, since what you actually do is comment, which extracts that pesky and time consuming task of RESEARCH. This is evidenced in your slide show/article, because, even though it's two years old, and I've written before, that FALSE INFORMATION regarding Ditka doing ANYTHING for Wilber is STILL THERE and is STILL VERY INCORRECT! Ditka, the drunk, has NEVER done ANYTHING to further Wilber's Disability Lawsuit, nor has he ever helped, assisted, aided, advocated, promoted, encouraged(get the point?)Wilber in any way, shape, or form. The only thing Wil and I agree to Ditka "doing" for Wil, is falsely commentating on a play during the '85 Bears' segment of the Top 10 Line Backer Squads on the NFL channel, because he didn't, and doesn't, know the first thing about Buddy's defenses. I would appreciate you removing the false statement regarding Ditka from Wilber's slide. For accurate information regarding Wil, you can visit his Page: http://www.facebook.com/Wilber.Marshall58

    Thank you,

    Lynne Pugh
