Good day to you all! My name is Jared and I'm originally from Sacramento. I love my Oakland Raiders and my love has not wavered all these painful years. Huge Giants fan, seeing them win the Series was one of the most amazing times in my life(even though I was watching it over 5000 miles way in Sweden). I have a love/hate relationship with my Kings(many reasons, too many to discuss). Can't get enough of college football, everything about it is amazing and the best part is University of Texas, HOOK'EM! And finally, my ancestors are from the great city of Manchester, UK so I have to be a United Supporter and yes, we got 19!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love real football(soccer for my fellow Yanks), there is something about the pace, the creativity, the beauty of it, it is almost indescribable. Some of my best memories come from football, Van Der Sar's PK save against Anelka in 2008, Donovan's goal against Algeria in the 2010 WC, and United's number 19.
Other great moments were the 2006 Rose Bowl when Vince Young took the Horns on his shoulders and got that beautiful crystal ball, Colt McCoy and his fantastic career(unfortunately ended too soon against the Tide). All the great plays and players in the Mack Brown era.
It's harder to have good memories as a Raiders and Kings fan in last 10 years, the fumble in the Snow Bowl, the beatdown by the Bucs, our years of futility and the Kings' stolen championship(s) in the early 2000s.
Thanks for the praise Jared. Your right about American's being dismissive about soccer because their own league or players aren't the "best of the best". They are used to seeing the best Basketball, Baseball, GridIron (although the latter two has little global competition), so are dismissive of anything which isn't "the best product". Many American's who lived in Europe get attached to soccer sometimes, the most famous example being Kobe B (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kobe_Bryant#Childhood_and_youth). Please recommend the article to your friends, I would like to see more people write their opinions (good or bad) in the article. Thanks for reading.
