My parents were born and raised in Pittsburgh. My husband and his family all were born and raised in Pittsburgh. Most of my friends are from Pittsburgh. Is it any wonder that I am a voracious Steelers and Penguins fan? I BLEED black and gold!

On the college front, I follow Ohio State and Pitt (of course). Pretty gutzy considering I live behind enemy lines: the heart of Nittany Lion country!

I enjoy sports immensely, but my journalism background is in news. For 16 years and for two newspapers, I edited stories about murders, drugs, robberies, and the like. I've probably proofread thousands of obituaries in my career. Pretty depressing stuff!

When I lost my job in April, I decided I needed a change, something out of my comfort zone. So I'm trying my hand at sports journalism.

I want to bring a little more female perspective to a clearly male-dominated arena. Chicks are sports fans, too!

    Hahaha...Well, it was a good match from the Leafs, especially when they were playing for the second time in less than 24 hours. Shocked the Pens didn't thrash them, my Leafs look like a real NHL team these days. Good luck to the Pens!
