Was Born in St. Louis and moved to San Francisco in 1998.

I was a health journalist for nine and half years, editing and writing award-winning, print and video, and managing content for a series of health websites. After almost 10 years in that field with the dot-com I joined in 2000, I am back in sports journalism.

My work puts an emphasis on the minds inside the helmets, the heart under the numbered uniforms, and the substance behind the statistics. Stats are a good guide or a place to start, but do not tell the whole story. I'm more "Three Nights in August," but have a touch of "Moneyball."

I am an avid fan of my teams, but am also very realistic when it comes to their flaws.
