Connor's Bio

I am 18 and graduated from Shorecrest High School of Shoreline, WA on June 14th. Currently I am attending Washington State University and plan on Majoring in Communications and Minoring in Journalism.

I have just started writing for the Daily Evergreen. I am super excited for the chance to write for the newspaper all WSU students have easy access to.

I love sports, always have, and I play baseball, basketball, and soccer competitively. I played baseball for school and the other sports on teams outside of school.

Also I love to write, have since 4th grade. I attribute my initial love of writing to my 4th grade teacher Ms. Bruce.

That is basically the jist of me, I am a shy dude who loves to make people laugh and have a good time. I am always up to talk about sports and support my side of the argument.

  1. Connor,

Hey, good job with the posts. And good luck with WSU and sports writing.
My name is Laura Vecsey, content director for Examiner.com/seattle. My job is to find local experts/writers who can contribute to our local knowledge network.
I wonder if you might like to become the WSU Campus Examiner, or maybe the WSU Football Examiner?
We look for people who can post twice a week. If you look at the site, you can see what it is that Examiners do.
    www.examiner.com/seattle.

Let me know. This can be fun, and good experience. We pay a tiny amount, but we have great people on the site.
    THanks Connor,
    Laura Vecsey

  2. You made the article before I did. I only wrote it because everyone was in favor of the Lakers, and there was so little evidence to back it up.

If we were at least the favorite, I wouldn't have wrote it.

Thanks for the shoutout. I'm about to read your Sexson article.

I remember those days when the Indians were just overloaded with hitters ( Sean Casey, Brian Giles, Russell Branyan, Sexson, Milton Bradley etc. ) and couldn't keep them. I was always enamored with how they got so much offensive talent over the years.

  3. Hey Connor,

You picked the right school for both journalism and a rich college experience. Pullman is a special place and the Communication department at WSU is tops.

As you begin your college experience, remain open to new and undiscovered interests. You might find something even greater than journalism to be passionate about. That will be the key to your happiness. Finding your passion and then continuing with courage to pursue that source. There are a myriad of ideas, concepts and areas of focus you will be exposed to at Washington State. Try as many as possible with an open mind. Truth be known, the vast majority of graduates who go on to lead successful lives don't follow the path of their academic degree. It's the process of learning and exposure to new things that make the difference. And a university that offers quality instruction in a wide variety of fields is the place to be if you want a solid foundation. Washington State is just such a place. Excellent choice my friend. Excellent choice.

Keep in touch. It's a treat to live vicariously through the experiences of others.

    GO COUGS!!!

    Cougar Lew

  4. Thanks man, I appreciate it.

  5. Conner,

Good choice with choosing WSU for your journalism career. You'll have fun and find great opportunities for becoming a writer there. Try to get hooked up with the Daily Evergreen student newspaper right away...even as a freshman. By the time you're a senior, you'll be a lead editor.

I graduated in 1974 in broadcast communications and have spent the past 30+ years in either radio or as a media relations specialist. My daughter graduated as a Coug and went right into TV news and my son will be a senior in digital media next year.

I'll look forward to seeing you at the football games in Pullman this year. You'll be the one with the writer's tablet and pen along the sidelines...right?

Have a great summer and GO COUGS!

    Geoff
