About

I was blessed -- or cursed, depending on how you look at it -- with two traits: I love sports, and I love to travel.

In 1996, while chairing the organizing committee for the Frozen Four, held in my hometown of Cincinnati, I went to the regional final in Albany, NY. With a little extra time in the early part of the days, I made a couple mini road trips. The first day I went east to Springfield, MA and visited the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. And on the second day, I headed west to Cooperstown, NY to visit the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

It was on the drive back to Albany from Cooperstown that I began to think about the other iconic sporting events I would like to see in my lifetime, and, a couple days later on the flight home, I started my list.

That list was the beginning of a quest that came to fruition in 2010, when I launched a website, The Ultimate Sports List, dedicated to the sports road-trippers of the world. Through the voting of our fans, we established the world's top 150 sporting events. Our fans can create their own bucket list of sporting events they would like to see, and then check them off the after they have attended in our Passport section. They can also upload their photos and comments from the events they have attended.

Oh, and a few tidbits about my list.

My first: The 1970 MLB All Star Game where Pete Rose bowled over Ray Fosse to win in the 12th inning for the National League.
My favorite: The 1997 Masters. TV -- even high def -- does not do justice to Augusta National Golf Club.
My craziest: The 1982 AFC Championship Game between the Bengals and Chargers, aka the Freezer Bowl with wind chills at -60 degrees.
Number One on my to-do list: Wimbledon, followed closely by the Rose Bowl and the Monaco Grand Prix.
