I'm a 28-year-old graduate from Xavier University. I've been involved in sports for as long as I can remember. From baseball and basketball in grade school to hockey and soccer later on, sports has been a constant in my life.
Hockey is my passion, and I still play frequently. If you turned on my tv, the NHL Network would most likely pop up. Second only to hockey is my love for my Xavier University Musketeers. They personify the "on any given day" adage. I love MMA, but strictly as a spectator. With my knees, I wouldn't last a minute in the octagon with any of those athletes. I have that much more respect for what they do because of it.
Two of my favorite sportswriters are Bill Simmons and John Buccigross. I share Simmons' love of pop-culture irony and admire his ability to seamlessly weave that into his writing. I have a great appreciation for music in all its forms and I and enjoy Buccigross' use of musical analogies in his writing. Also, his ability to convey even the most mundane aspect of hockey life as vital and meaningful never ceases to amaze me.
Hey, would you be able to send your e mail to email@example.com? I want to get the B/R community leaders on a mailing list for a press release on behalf of Sports Media 101.
Jim, even though the 30 anniversary for the Miracle on Ice was two days ago, I decided to take a look back at arguably the greatest sporting event in American history.
Please take a look at it and tell me what you think of it.
If you could also pass this on, that would be greatly appreciated
Jim, as a fellow FC, I'd love your feedback, comments on this: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/308607-on-the-1st-day-of-christmas-the-detroit-red-wings-gave-to-me
Just something fun to get a conversation going.
