Mackenzie's Bio

I am a 20 year old student at Villanova University, currently working on a degree in Communication. My three passions in life are sports, music, and poker, but obviously on this site, I'll focus on sports. Specifically, I follow the New York Jets, New York Yankees, New Jersey Nets, New Jersey Devils, and Villanova basketball. I still think the Jets are going to make the playoffs, and I think Villanova WILL be a top 10 team for the next four years and the Nets will win the title in 2011. In college football, I root for Ohio State, Rutgers, and Virginia Tech, but there are teams that I adopt as the season goes on. I hate Bill Bellichick, Jonathan Papelbon, and Bruce Bowen.

Most Memorable Game Attended

It was the final day of the NFL season in 2002. The Jets played at 4:15, needing either Atlanta to beat Cleveland to have a chance at the wild card, or New England to beat Miami to have a chance at the division title. It looked bleak for both teams, but a few of us in the Jets' parking lot watching New England begin a memorable comeback as Miami collapsed and lost the game in overtime. The Jets played the Packers at 4:15, and nobody cared about the game until the Patriots game ended, when the stadium erupted during a break in the play. Some players looked excited and ready to get down to business, others were clueless to what was going on, but it was surreal.

  1. It's all good man. I emailed Bruce, and we're thinking of getting it started next week. I wouldn't expect schoolwork to slow down any time soon, but if you can find the time, that'd be great.

  2. Really sorry about that, I've been really busy with school lately. If I don't respond right away, my e-mail address is mackenzie.kraemer@villanova.edu.

"The Green Room" is a great name. I had planned on just one of us posting it each week, but that idea might be better. I'll try to think of some questions and maybe I could e-mail or post them in your profiles tomorrow?

  3. Yo! Seems that you've been MIA for a few days. I hope all is well, man. I sent a note to Bruce hoping to get The Green Room/Roundtable thing off the ground this week. It was your idea, so I hope you're still down for it.

I was thinking of setting up a new account for it called "The Green Room"—or we can take turns posting the discussions, either/or.

    Get back to me, bro.

  4. Cool. I approached Bruce Dickenson about it, because he's as big a Jets' fan as any on b/r. I figured we could call our group "The Green Room." And give everything a headline of "The Green Room Discusses... | New York Jets, Week Two" or something.. or we can address other Jets' news rather than post-game and pre-game analysis.

  5. I'm down for that. Maybe post-game reports, or something? Conducted via e-mail?

  6. Hey Mackenzie,

I am one of the two NFL community leaders here at Bleacher Report, if I haven't introduced myself to you yet, Hello!

There will be a contest here at BR involving NFL writing. The format will divide the contestants into divisions where they will face off head-to-head each week and tally an overall record throughout the season.

The matchups will be judged on number of reads. There will be a Community Leader assigned to each division to keep track of total reads and report on the winners and losers.

I was wondering if you would be interested in assuming the role as head of a division?

I'm really excited about this latest contest, so please get back to me as soon as possible!

  7. Ahhh, I hate stud! I find it so boring to play! And any edit that makes my article better, no matter how small, deserves props. Best of luck in your editing and poker-playing career.

  8. Thanks for your and Jay's tag-team editing job.

And what poker game do you play? Probably no limit hold 'em, I'd assume. If you want to play another fun poker game though, Omaha Hi-Low is great. Four cards and two ways to capture pots. The work is done after the flop, not preflop, which I like more than no-limit.

  9. well i guess im just being too nice in overlooking some fanhood differences...im gettin no love from haters lol

  10. good stuff on that Ian Kennedy article you got my pick of the day vote and fanhood with one read

  11. got it, thanks. i'll be posting the article tomorrow probably.

  12. Mackenzie, let me get your e-mail address so we can start this round table thing.

    Thanks,
    Jordan

  13. Hey Mackenzie,

I just wanted to go around and introduce myself to all the great Yankee writers we have here on Bleacher Report. I hope to start organizing some round table discussions in the near future in order to make our community the best on the site. Let me know if you need anything. Keep up the good work.

    Jordan

  14. M,

That's a textbook headline if I ever saw one. Thanks for getting with the program so quickly, and please do keep me posted on the results...

    Ryan

  15. Ha ha—I appreciate the "donation." (Like giving your body to science, only less painful.) Hopefully the principle of clickability/taking a stand makes sense. I chose your headline because it was a prime example of a great article that had been sold short by its title. My main hope is that we can help pieces like that one get the attention they deserve.

Thanks again for sharing your work, and please do keep the good stuff coming.

    Best,

    RA
