Andrea Duke is a sport media researcher and academic. Dr. Duke received her PhD in Sport Communication from the University of Alabama, where she studied gender issues, stereotypes, visual communication, and entertainment theory in relation to sport media. Prior to attending Alabama, Dr. Duke received her Masters in Communication, Culture and Technology from Georgetown University, where she studied Health and Political Communication. Her undergraduate degree is from Clemson University in Mass Communication and Journalism.

Research from Dr. Duke has been published in Journal of Broadcast and Electronic Media and Journal of Promotional Management, along with completing three encyclopedia entries in the Encyclopedia of Children, Adolescents, and the Media, and four encyclopedia entries in Girl culture: An encyclopedia. She has co-authored three book chapters, one in the Handbook of Sports and Media, another in Examining Identity in Sports Media, and the last in Investigating the Use of Sex in Media Promotion and Advertising.

Dr. Duke currently teaches at Trinity University in San Antonio, TX, where she is an Adjunct Professor in the Sport Management program.

In her spare time, Dr. Duke is an avid runner, having completed 41 marathons since 2002 and is a five-time Boston Marathon qualifier.

    Dr. Duke, how can Thierry Henry make your list of favorite athletes after what he did to the Republic of Ireland's otherwise imminent and deserved advance to World Cup in place of France, what with his unfair sportsmanship (the never disavowed hand play) on that goal?
