NFL Playoffs: What the Hell Just Happened?
01/14/2009
When I'm not sipping latte's in the Emerald City, I'm venting about athletes and the state of sports in general. When I'm not doing either of those, I'm writing a blog.

Dave,
I've written to Sean on his similar 'humor" article about the Raiders. You clearly stated to 'Chris' that your intentions are the same.
If you’re looking at getting "tickets" then you’re probably succeeding nicely.
My concern with your article is that it "cheapens" Bleacher Report as a whole. I'm certain that the owners (Dave Finocchio, Alexander Freund, Bryan Goldberg, and Dave Nemetz) didn't intend for Bleacher to be a "rag" on the internet. As a new reader, I find myself disgusted by such articles. As an intelligent Raider fan since the mid-70's, it's insulting.
Here's an idea since your still on your SB High....before you write anything about the Raiders again, try writing about every other franchise that haven't won the SB...There are plenty of teams out there to criticize.
But No...It’s too easy to insult us...and you’re probably laughing away as you read this...shame on you.
Sean was man enough to explain his intentions, and I promised not to take it further with the owners mentioned above. However, it appears this is the norm on Bleacher which is too bad for such a great idea to have such weak articles.
Sincerely Tony

Hey Dave,
I hope you've been enjoying the new and improved Bleacher Report—we're really happy with the feedback we've received so far.
Just thought I'd let you know that next week we'll be launching the site to the world with some public announcements, and thus it'd be great to get a contribution from you between now and Tuesday to make Bleacher Report's launch a success.
Let me know if you need any help with ideas or have questions. Have a great weekend Dave!

I still think you're missing what I'm trying to say.
In 2002, the focus was on Brady when the focus should have been on the job the Patriots defense did against the Rams.
In 2008, the focus is on Eli when the focus should be on the job the Giants defense did against the Patriots' offense.
I had the Giants scoring 17 points. That wasn't a surprise, that was right on what just about everyone expected. Nobody expected the Patriots to only score 14 points.
Eli Manning was a fraud MVP. Osi, Strahan, and Tuck should be going to Disney World.
We're both blinded, in a way. Me because Eli destroyed both my Fantasy Football team and my real football team this season. You because you're a Giants fan who just won a Super Bowl. That's cool.
I did, however, rewatch the Eli pass to Tyree....let's just say it wasn't a dart. It was a hail-mary. It could have been intercepted as easily as Tyree's helmet caught the ball...

Dave, I think you missed my point. You need to get lucky to win a Super Bowl in the NFL. In 2001, the Patriots got a bye in part because David Patten was knocked out on the sidelines in Buffalo and his head touched out of bounds while the ball was touching another part of his body. And let's not forget the Tuck play...good call or not, tremendously lucky.
The Giants defense was FANTASTIC. Can't be stressed enough. Eli Manning didn't win that Super Bowl. The defense did. Eli Manning was AWFUL in that last drive. I'm sure it'll be replayed on NFL Network this week. Watch it and let me know if you still feel the same way about Eli's final drive.
Congrats on the win! I remember 2001...it's better when you don't see it coming. 2003 and 2004 were not the same....

You're exactly right. I was rooting for the Giants all the way, so the Brady/Montana and 00's Pats/80's Niners comparisons would be put to rest once and for all. And they were, all thanks to Eli Manning...god I love sports.

Congrats on the HUGE SB win Dave! Must feel great to be a Giants fan right now.
