I would like to think my Bio is ever evolving, which is a good thing right? So, until I find a reason for it to evolve even more, here is what you need to know about me. I was born on the island of Cyprus off the coast of Greece to an Officer and Nurse in the Royal Air Force. Grew up playing soccer in England, Germany, Singapore, and Italy. Played for several club teams in Germany as a child and was named first team all-Italy while playing center fullback for the Vicenza Cougars in high school. Played in the Boston, Massachusetts indoor league in the mid 80's and for Miller Masters FC of the New Hampshire summer semi-pro league. I am an active member of the NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America)
Graduated form the University of New Hampshire in the fall of 1984 with a BA in Communications and used that degree for two and a half decades to cover sports here in the United States and over seas. While At the university I dabbled in a little football at both the fullback and linebacker. That was back when UNH played in the now defunct Yankee Conference and Boston University still had a football program.
My television career started at WMUR TV-9 in Manchester. After just one year at Channel 9, I moved to WFSB TV 3 in Hartford, Connecticut. Following a three year stint in Hartford, it was off to Philadelphia in 1990 for 15 year tenure at WPVI TV6, one of the most powerful local television affiliates in the country. From July 2005 to March 2008 I worked with Comcast Sportsnet Philadelphia, an all sports cable network whose programming includes live broadcasts of NHL, NBA and Major League Baseball games as well as a variety of half hour and one hour news formatted shows.
World Football (soccer) is my passion, but I have covered almost every major sporting event: Superbowls, NBA Finals, Stanly Cup Finals, World Series, College Bowl Games, Nascar, NCAA Hoop Tournament and several major golf and tennis championships.
Currently I live in the Philadelphia suburbs about 19 miles from center city with my wife and three children. During my free time I love to coach soccer and Pop Warner football. I have actually earned several coaching certifications from the NSCAA, The FA (British Football Association), Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association and The USSF (United States Soccer Foundation). My soccer work has also given me the opportunity to work with the WPSL (Women's Premier Soccer league) where I had the chance to general manage the Philadelphia Liberty.
Hey Phil, just want to say I always followed you when you worked for 6ABC and Comcast Sportsnet! I was very sad when you stopped! I'm not sure if you remember but I ran into you at a Costco one time about a year or two ago. I hope you read some of my work!
