  1. Hey

just writing to tell you that I am no longer writing for Bleacher Report. I have embarked on several new ventures of my own and they are in direct conflict content-wise with BR.

Two of my blogs (mrflushing.com and blognyg.com) have been incorporated into the Yardbarker network and and a third one - ny giant nation - is being run by sportsblognet.com

I also bought into a sports video site that is in its infancy - smackcaster.com - which we are still developing....

  2. Hey Roy. Good to hear from you. Been busy with my straight job lately so that's been taking up some time. I hate this time of the year. I'm already craving football and it's not even the draft yet but thankfully it's at the end of teh month so that will be a nice tease before training camp...that and all the Pacman rumors which grow by the day. Very torn about it...he's a difference maker on the field and he and T. Newman would be the best cover corner duo in the league BUT he's a scumbag and trouble. I don't want him screwing with what the Cowboys have going. Goodell hates his guts and whatever team he goes to will be under a severe microscope. He'd be a pain in the ass BUT his talent might outweigh the risk in Jerry's eyes.

He's more obsessed then ever about getting back to the Super Bowl especially after that debacle againts the Giants. 2008 is going to be a Super Bowl or bust year for the Cowboys. There's no excuse especially if they get Pacman and the general consensus is that they will. Hope you and your family have been well. Talk soon my friend.

  3. Yeah, to me the Pats were the best team in the league last year...and even though I'm a Patriots hater they will go down as one of the greatest teams in history for me. I also think they will easily be a favorite for next year.

  4. Hey Roy,

I just wanted to let you know that Bleacher Report has launched out of beta with an updated look and feel and some great new features. Check out the "Game On" link in the header to find out more.

Next week we'll be launching the site to the world with some public announcements—and it'd be great to get a contribution from you between now and Tuesday to make Bleacher Report's launch a success.

Let me know if you need any help with ideas or have questions. Have a great weekend Roy!

  5. I wish we could have stayed but we were only in Scottsdale for the Barrett Jackson Auction for a week. I was going to stay but there wasn't a place to stay anywhere and a room in a house was $1,000.00/day scalpers tickets were the same price in the upper SRO. God damn taxi's in that city are the biggest ripoff I've ever had ,,anywhere,,,,$15-20./block.

Some asshole sent me a fake newspaper sports page about Brady's arm being in a cast and after throwing 3 picks I thought it was real and posted it,,,,,,,,,,,,Fuck man do I feel stupid.

  7. Yes I believe that Moss deserves recognition for what he did this season , but, randy has a past that has had it's down side over the years and having one great year with Tom brady isn't enough to prove himself to the people who do the voting. I agree he should have had a point or two but in the grand scheme of things he wouldn't have set the records without Tom Brady. Moss came to N.E.,as a dark horse and everyone was wondering if Belichick has made the right choice and it took Randy a few months to get on track before the season as we all know. Then the season starts and he's off like a race horse and dosen't look back! Randy is
or was a tempermental guy that needed someone like Bill and Tom to get him to be a team player unlike the teams he had been with before coming to N.E. So,after getting a taste of being part of an organization like N.E.,was something different for him and he had to adjust and he did.
Getting back to whether Randy should have gotten a few votes though , it's not only Pat's' fans if any that cast their votes and they mostly go with the champions of the day and not a newcomer like Moss. So I am sure that if Randy Moss is still a Patriot next season and has another great year he might just get the votes. Untill then ,,I do believe he is the best receiver that I have seen but lets see him do it again.

By the way tom Brady throws mostly to Moss because he can throw the ball over most of his coverage and randy is tall enough to somehow?? tip it into his hands and chest and hang onto it. That's a hard thing to defend against.

  8. I wasn't degrading Brady at all and I was imagining "connections". I wasn't saying that Tom Brady should have never won the award either, or that he was wrong for winning it. You don't have to tell me that they're only concerned with winning, I've watched their Superbowls and I've watched Brady work, he is a great leader, no doubt. I merely wrote that article in retrospect as to how none of the writers considered Randy Moss at all. I think he should have gotten at least one vote, perhaps that vote that Favre got, because there is no way that Brady elevates Donte' Stallworth, Jabar Gaffney, or Wes Welker to the kind of status that Randy Moss has. I also mentioned some of the receivers that he made great and elevated in his time, especially seeing as he got Deion Branch a brand new shiney contract in Seattle. Also, Brady had never thrown more than 10 TDs to a receiver in his time in New England (a testament to Moss' receiving abilities, as well as Brady's ability to spread out the offense), so is it fair to say that their talents have rubbed off equally on each other?

  9. No problem, Roy

Good luck in the playoffs and hope to see u in the Super Bowl!!

  10. Thanks Roy. Best of holidays to you and your family as well.

  11. Loved the Thanksgiving story...thanks Roy...best of days Thursday to you and your family

  12. OK Roy..in case you haven t found out about the noise in Indy..this is what I've been able to dig up...excuse the spelling if its a little off....I didn't hear this because I was in a sports bar watching this and the Dallas game BUT...apparently on the first play of the fourth quarter, the 14 yard pass from Brady to Moss, there was crowd noise heard before and during the play the it cut out when Moss was tackled...there was also a vibration in the sound when the crowd was cheering...

there was a report..not substantiated...but a report on yahoo sports that Jonathan Kraft...your President son of Bob....complained to the NFL brass...your spokesman or woman in this cases Stacy James denied that there was such a complaint...

the NFL issued a statement yesterday saying that the "unusual audio moment" was the result of tape feedback in the CBS production truck and was isolated to the CBS broadcast...it was apparently not related to the stadium and could not be heard in the stadium.....

now that being said and this is just me for what its worth BUT dome teams i.e the Colts and the Vikings have had many complaints leveled against them for many years about piping in crowd noise over the PA to jack up the noise in the stadium...the idea being that in a dome since its closed...the more noise you can have the more...the harder it is to hear so you have false starts on the offense and so on since the sound can't travel outwards...its just going to reverberate throughout the dome...any enhancement of crowd noise IS a violation of NFL rules...

the NFL was very quick to answer this which makes me suspicious right off the bat...it wouldn't surprise me if that's what happenned..like I said I didn't hear it because of the noise where I was at but there is a clip on Youtube called "Indy cheats" that has the play in question....who the hell knows...it does make this rivalry that much more juicier and bloodier...can't wait for the rematch...hope all is well with you...

  13. Thanks and same to you or maybe US. You know I really make an attempt at finding out why things happen although I have made some pretty stupid comments from time to time. Hand shakes ??? what Dungy meant was ( F**k You Bill and break his wrist ) after the game but ,,that's losing in the big leagues I geuss.
I really do think that the Pats can go 16 straight now and more. Whatever happeded in the past has to be left there now and move on. The Pats have proved they didn't need any help from cameras as we all know now and it's just great to watch them break records.,,,,,,,,,Roy

  14. Congrats on the win Roy. Just wish all Pats fans could be as classy as you.

  15. First of all, I d like to thank you for reading. Second I d like to offer my respect to you as a true fan and not some bandwagoner that has sprouted up magically over the past few months. Believe me, Mangini has blood on his hands for this whole Spygate thing as well as Belichick. And for that matter Charlie Weis as well. The thing is, I believe, that Goodell and the owners, even Jerry Jones which disappoints me, know the scope of what went on and know that if the general public like yourself and myself, found out, the NFL would have the problems that the NBA are having right now in terms of integrity of the game

We won t know for a long time because Goodell promptly destroyed all of the evidence after the investigation. Now you being a man that is obviously older and wiser than me, think of why he would do that? Why would he not just bury but DESTROY the evidence? Did he debrief Mangini and find out whta his role might have been in the past when he was on staff? What about Weis? There was a quote attributed to Lane Kiffin, the def. coordinator for Tampa Bay, where he said after beating the Pats in 2000, Weis shook his hand and said "We knew all your plays and we still couldn't stop you." The fact is that this thing had been going on for years. And don't misunderstand me Roy. By no stretch of the imagination do I think the Pats are the only team doing this. I'm not singling them out and do not hate them per se. I had always admired Kraft's classy way of handling the organization. I have never cared much for Belichick but his arrogance this year has angered me and others beyond belief.

I really think the NFL higher ups and owners know that there are other teams that do the same thing. But they know that in a billion dollar industry that they want to take global now apparently, which I think is stupid but that's a debate for another time, if it comes out that teams are blatantly breaking the rules of competition and fair play, NO ONE will watch anymore. This country as we have seen is forgiving of just about anything given some time. But when they feel like they are being lied to or something is being kept from them, they get upset and rightly so. No one likes being treated like a child.

Perhaps some day we'll know what really happenned. I would love the chance to investigate this and have looked into several different angles some of which I've mentioned. But when you're just a guy who writes for a web site and don't really have access to people to interview, it's going to be difficult. Again, being a true Pats fan, I have all the respect for you and wanted to show that respect by telling you why it is I feel the way I feel on the subject and to just make clear that this is not some vendetta I have against the Patriots. They're not a rival of the Cowboys and we hardly ever play them. Yes I was upset by Belichick running up the score but as we've seen in the last few weeks he does it to anyone. I despise people like him and the arrogance that they seem to walk on water. No one is above justice and especially in football, things like that always come back to you. Again I appreciate the chance to converse with an intelligent, open-minded person like yourself and thank you again for following my work. I'm not necessarily good at it but I enjoy it and as you've seen I try to make it interesting and colorful. I look forward to speaking with you in the future and keeping the debate going. That's one of the things I love most about sports...ongoing talks. Take care and I think the game tomorrow should be an instant classic no matter who wins.
