Looks like this Selena Roberts character that wrote the articles with the majority of the accusations was twisting the words of the people she interviewed, misquoting them and trying to exploit a situation that may or may not have even existed. Big shocker there right? lol!! I wouldnt sweat the issue unless anything solid comes to surface I'd say your Auburn team is gonna be just fine. There should be some kind of "slander" law that ties the medias hands from doing this kind of crap!!! Just my opinion.

Hey I just read an article about it that says things arent looking nearly as gloom for Auburn as originally thought. I'm thinking your gonna be alright. I wouldn't sweat it too much.

Whow knows what to believe anymore. Look at Oregon's investigation, 2 years in the works now and still no word on anything. And now, the NCAA investigating itself after the whole Miami thing. Suck part is, with the hush hush policy of the NCAA in regard to ongoing investigations, you'll play hell trying to really find out whats going on with your program. Oregon's thing was about proper reporting in regard to expenses associated with recruiting services (something that is supposed to be reported on a quarterly basis), and the lack of detail in their submissions. Hardly a "rape" thing, or "pay to play" thing, or a "Penn State" thing, but yet, still impossible to get any info on what the investigation is producing or what any disciplinary action might be pending. All you can do is just go on blindly and hope for the best as details get disclosed I guess. Sucks. But just the way the way it is, especially in the offeseason. I'll be pulling for ya though.

I'm not even sure what your talking about. I havent read anything on Auburn yet. Did something happen?

lol! I never even looked at it that way, but mostly because I'm all cherokee and blackfoot indian on my mothers side. I'm married to a native registered cherokee, my brother in Alaska is married to an Inuit (Eskimo as they call them in the lower 48), and I don't ever get too involved in the "North South" Arguments I see on these blogs because I think if anyone has a legit complaint about any fighting that went on between the coastlines of this region, its the natives. lol!! I'm not all die hard about it though, because my fathers side of the family is all Norwegian, Italian and Irish (as guilty of coming across the sea in a boat as anybody). hahahaha!! Anyway, I definitely can see your point.

Hahahaha. Good point. Honestly, when I think of Alabama I don't think of the Tide. I think of Auburn, but its not only because of the title game Oregon played against them. Its because I lived in the south myself for the last few years before moving out east where I'm at now. Id been to Texas Motor Speedway several times, but I wanted to see Talladega, if for no other reason, than just the size. So I took a trip. I stayed at a little lakeside motor up to it motel, that was just few miles from the track. It had a little bar at one end, and I went there for dinner. I had my Oregon hat on, and low and hehold, inside I found 3 Auburn fans, a Bama fan, and an LSU fan (equally all Nascar fans staying at the hotel for the same reason). lol!! Images of myself getting tossed out of the place on my ass flowing through my head, I went and had a seat at the bar right next to them, all of them deadlocked on the "O" on my hat. LMAO!! Turns out, they wound up inviting me to play in a fantasy football tournament thing, they had chalked into a board behind the bar. Small talk of freindly poking at prodding at each other, turned into nothing more than all of us having a great time together. 2 of the Auburn fans even invited me to go to breakfast with them at a wafflehouse nearby, the next morning before we all headed off to the race. So I did that as well. I loved the way the fog settled in over the lake at night, and its what I woke to the next morning, Alabama is not at all unlike many places across the country in the sense that it has some gorgeous scenery to offer, and my experience at the track was just awesome. Funny though, how an Auburn fan once told me "We don't wear football jerseys of our teams in the SEC. Thats for classless people with no life, redknecks and children. We wear polo shirts", and yet I saw literally hundreds of fans at the track wearing both Alabama and Auburn Jerseys... lmao!! I have a couple of Jerseys myself, a black and a yellow Oregon Jersey, and I'm not a child. Anyway, it's not just the SEC. I'm certainly aware of that. The PAC and Oregon itself also have fans that are total blowhards like that. Its just the way it is. My biggest argument on almost any subject, its that its relatively equal all across the board. And if you feel any differently about that, you just havent travelled the country that much. I think maybe the SEC is a little more intense about it, but then again, the history is deeper, the conference is bigger, and a state like Alabama doesn't have a professional team to compete with, much the same way Oregon doesn't have one. Anyway, you may not even be a Nascar fan, so you might think that was a bit sideways for even bringing it up, but it was truly my "Alabama" experience. And a good one. Its a place I'd like to revisit again someday. lol

I really appreciate the comment W. NIce to be able to have a level headed conversation about it all with a true fan from the SEC. And really does mean alot coming from a fan of one of the only teams that has shut Oregon down in recent years. I don't hold it against anyone that was trying to cut me down on that article. Theyre passionate about their conference and their programs, and I'd be a hypocrite to feel otherwise. I don't agree with them calling me a Troll for posting on an article that was featured on the main page, and clearly discussed my team (Oregon) and even featured a video of Oregon's game with Auburn as example. That to me, isn't trolling, and the one thing I can't stand are Trolls. lol!! Hate to think that I am one.

Anyway, I think there was a great deal of confusion as to what my argument was. Plenty of words were being put in my mouth as if I was saying "The SEC was weak", or "The SEC cheats" or "My team would walk all over the SEC" or even "My team wouldve beat the SEC champ in a Title Game". None of which I posted or claimed at all. There is no argument against what the SEC has done over the years. My argument was just that I didn't see SEC dominance this past season, nor do I see how a National Title against itself (last year) or a NAtional Title against an Independent (Notre Dame this past season) spells out dominance over other conferences. I repeteadly stated that I felt Alabama has been dominant, but not the SEC as a whole, yet Alabama fans seem to still be outraged at that statement. lol!! They also are not happy with me pointing out that arguably the best BCS National Championship, and most competitive one played was when two conference champions (Auburn vs Oregon) were pitted against one another. Immediately that satement produces ridiculous claims that Auburn somehow was a weak team by SEC standards because they lacked on defense, and thats the only reason Oregon played such a tight game with them. I don't get it. 2010 Auburn was undefeated, and had a perfect season in what is argued to be the toughest conference in the country. It makes absolutely no sense to me to claim that they were somehow a lacking opponent by standards of your conference in any way, considering they had a perfect season.

I think its also obvious at this point that you understood what my debate really was, in that most of the posts I was arguing against wern't directly related to the statistical study featured in the article anyway. But rather I was arguing against statements like "Playoffs just mean SEC vs SEC Title games" and "A mix of starters and backups from Alabama could beat an all starting cast of Oregon or Kansas State" and "The bottom half of the SEC could beat the top half of most other conferences" and so on. I'm a fanatic just like they all are, so if I feel slighted by comments like that, ofcourse I'm going to argue against them. lol!! But truly I don't have any hate for anyone, we're all just a bunch of die-hards throwing popcorn at each other and watching it all play out on a giant screen in my eyes.

In regards to Auburn. I'm not an Oregon fan that is bitter about that game. Id love to have won it, but in all honesty, I'm one of the fans that walked away from it saying "Wow! We lost, but that was one hell of a good football game." I also dont spout off with "Dyers knee was down" comments either, because clearly, in my opinion, it wasn't. I call it a botched play because both sides pulled a woopsie daisy on that one. lol!! If you go back and watch the play, as I did several times, Dyer thought he was down just as much as anybody did, thats why he hesitated, then saw the reaction from everyone, and took off again. Oregon got it wrong, Dyer himself got it wrong (then corrected himself), but the officials made the right call. I do feel Cam Newton clearly fumbled the ball on the play where he was sacked, but bad calls happen, and I'm hardly the type to blame the entire outcome of a game on one play. I'm sure as an Auburn fan you saw some plays in your eyes that went Oregon's way and shouldn't have, so it all comes out in the wash. Fact reamains, Auburn had one hell of an incredible football team in 2010, played in an extremely competitive Title Game with Oregon, and won. So props go to Auburn. I just wish every time got into a debate with an Alabama or Florida or most any SEC fan, they'd quit trying to discredit the Auburn team as a weak attempt to downplay Oregon. Its ridiculous in my opinion. Auburn was perfect that year, which is more than even Alabama has done over the last couple of Title runs theyve had.
Anyway, sorry for the length of all this. I was just very impressed with your poise, and quite a humbling statement that you posted on my board. I had the time this morning, so I was thrilled to actually have a decent conversation with what is clearly a sensible a fan. I really appreciate it. And by all means... WAR EAGLE!
