About

Like everyone else here, I live and breathe sports. I am a fan of the NBA and NHL more than anything but I have nothing but respect for most athletes. I've even been known to watch a tennis match on occasion and I find soccer remarkably intriguing.

I can't begin to explain what sports does for me. I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that I'm the guy who's girlfriend is pissed because I watched SportsCenter over her left shoulder. That's me. I'm that guy. You'll know a guy like me when you are at some chain restaurant and see some guy leaning awkwardly in some vinyl-covered booth trying to catch the end of some game. Why hide it? Like Todd Bertuzzi says, "it is what it is."

Here is what I know to be true. (Translated: my opinion is...)
1. Todd Bertuzzi is a criminal. Steve Moore will own him soon enough.
2. NASCAR is not a sport.
3. Tiger Woods is a savior. I'm not much of a golfer, but he makes even me want to be.
4. Sid the Kid is not the Second Coming. neither is Kobe. They are the first of their kind.
4a. Kobe will go down as the greatest to ever play the game.
5. Rick Reilly, Stuart Scott, Woody Paige, & Dan Patrick would adorn my version of a sports Mt. Rushmore.

I'm ready to argue any of these points, or anything else you want to throw my way. Let's battle.

Short List

  • Favorite Athletes

Tiger is the best ever at handling pressure, Magic changed the game, Kobe changed it again, Joe Sakic is the definition of clutch, and only Peter Forsberg could do the things he does with a puck on his stick.

  • Favorite Sports Teams

Boston Celtics, Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche,

  • All-Time Sports Moment

The best moment in sports is the 1980 USA hockey team, hands down. A group of college kids beat the world! "Do you believe in miracles?"

  • Most Memorable Game Attended

Colorado Avalanche vs. Detroit Red Wings, March 26, 1997. Absolute bedlam!

  • Most Unbreakable Sports Record

Cal Ripken's Iron Man streak. He will never be touched.

  • Ruth or Mays?

Mays. Historians don't even know if Ruth actually called the shot. Everyone knows what Mays did.

  • Unitas or Montana?

Joe. His decision making should be documented and given to every rookie QB entering the league.

  • Jordan or Russell?

Jordan in a tight one. Russell was unbelievable, but Michael changed the sports culture of this country.

  • Gretzky or Orr?

I'm gonna say Gordie Howe. Shoot me.

  • Pele or Maradona?

I wish I knew enough to be sure. Enlighten me.

  • Federer or Sampras?

Federer by four and a half lengths. Sure, Nadal owns him of late, but to take it to the wire for his sixth straight title at Wimbledon? C'mon.

  • Tiger or Nicklaus?

Tiger without question. Not only will he surpass Jack, he will smash him. Jack, though will be as gracious as ever when he passes that torch.

  • Petty or Earnhardt?

NASCAR is not a sport. Next question.

  • Schumacher or Senna?

    See answer above.

  • ACC, Big 12, Big East, Big Ten, Pac-12 or SEC?

I tend to follow Big East football, but only because a cousin played in that league. The most exciting games seem to come out of the SEC...at least in college football. And just ask Dan Hawkins what he thinks about the Big 12...

Hey Geoff—Dave Mo here, a Bleacher Report Community Coordinator.

I've been spending time on our Nuggets page and read a couple of your old articles. Really on-point analysis...you do good work.

Given that you haven't written in a while, I thought I'd check in and see if you're interested in picking up your coverage again. What do you say?

If not, it would be great if you could give me some feedback on why you decided to stop writing and what we could have done to better serve you. If you wouldn't mind, please shoot me a line at dmorrison@bleacherreport.com with any thoughts.

    Thanks so much,

    Dave Mo

Thanks for the comment and the catch. I guess I had a happy left pointer finger, resulting in an unnecessary 'r'. :)
