About

BD is a published writer and hockey blogger. He is also one of the founding members of the NY Islander's Blog Box program. He has also been the NY Islanders blogger for Hockeybuzz.com from 2007 till the beginning of 2009. He built up a huge Islander online community and generated almost half a million hits last year. ,

He, along with his Ranger blogging brother, created the Sibling Rivalry blogs.

BD has been written up in Sports Illustrated, the NY Times Slapshots blog, Chris Botta's PointBlank blog, Yahoo's Puck Daddy blog and SportsBusiness Journal. He's even been mentioned in Mirtle's blog, FromTheRink.com!

He now runs his own indie blogosphere of over 50 bloggers: www.HockeyIndependent.com

By day, BD is a technology, design and production guru for a large 100 year old publishing firm in NYC. He awaits to be rescued from his tower by a better paycheck in the world of writing. But until then, he is a chubby, gregarious, and witty fellow stuck in two worlds. In 2008, he will attempt his first fiction novel. So hopefully, he will actually start by 2009.

Hi there BD. I have actually read some of your stuff on hockeybuzz. Good to see your newest article, about what you do!

Anyway, I am the Calgary Flames Community Leader and an avid hockey writer (though I write in other disciplines as well). I have been relatively successful on this site so far. I am trying to find a way to become more proactive in my local hockey community, by getting into the arenas more, getting access to more of the game and it's staffers. I'd like to add a new angle to Calgary hockey coverage, and I was wondering if you have any advice. Having read on your profile what you have done, I figure that you have some valuable hands-on experience.

I have been offered unpaid writing gigs on other sites, but they stipulate that I no longer post here. Any thoughts?

Anyway, feel free to ignore me, but I do want to thank you in advance for even considering pitching over some advice. Also, thanks for the group commendation in your article. Good job.

    Take care,

    M

PS - I see you are friends (NYI Blog Boxers) with Dee Karl. She and I have had some lively debates about the Commish. It's always good to get the other side. Also, if you, she, or any of your other hockey pals are looking for a off-season boost, I have been doing a series of comprehensive hockey trivia. Take a look.

    Thanks,
    M
