I'm in my sixth year in sports play-by-play and talk radio, including my third year in Mississippi. For two seasons, I've been the play-by-play announcer for the Mississippi Braves, announcing a full 140-game slate with the double-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves. And before you go looking it up, yes it's the same team that saw manager Phillip Wellman go crazy after being ejected from a game (You've probably already seen it, but it's always worth another watch... and another: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ggy6WGUFaYs). But no, I was not the announcer at the time of the blowup.
I also host a sports talk radio show, "The Kyle Tait Show," Monday thru Friday from 4-6 PM on WSFZ AM-930 in Jackson and online at KyleTaitShow.com. The show started in October 2012, with the first episode featuring a live interview with Jim Core, one of the NFL's replacement officials, the week the NFL came to an agreement with the regular officials (A few days later, he was featured on an episode of Showtime's "Inside the NFL"... but we got him first).
Prior to coming to Mississippi in 2011, I spent four years calling Georgia Tech baseball and one more as color commentator for Tech women's basketball. My start in radio came on WREK 91.1 FM in Atlanta. One day in the Spring of 2007, the WREK sports director came to me in need of an emergency fill-in on a Georgia Tech-Coastal Carolina game... an hour before first pitch. I showed up without a scorecard, a pen, or a clue as to what I was doing. And I'm glad that tape has been lost to time, because it may have been the worst broadcast in the history of baseball. I'm pretty sure I've improved since then.
My sports interest include baseball (of course), college football, NASCAR and EPL. Away from the sports world, I enjoy reading fiction, classic and modern. I like playing and perfecting my skills at Ultimate Frisbee and Texas Hold'em. And occasionally I dip into video games, playing FIFA, NCAA Football and Madden on Xbox.
Hope you enjoy what you read, my friends!
Haha, good catch. I was trying not to mess that up too. I guess Hank Aaron isn't playing anymore, is he?
No problem, Kyle! You'll get the hang of it. It was very well-written to be honest, and the minor details will come soon. That's awesome to see you're the play-by-play announcer for the Milwaukee Braves and have your own sports talk radio show. Glad to have you at Bleacher Report!
No problem. I look forward to reading your insider take on the Braves despite your poor choice in basketball fandom. Plus, since you're a baseball announcer, which is a dream job if ever there was one, I can live vicariously through your articles. Looking forward to the Spring.
Thanks for becoming a fan on here Kyle! Welcome to B/R, we're happy to have you here. I'd be more than glad to help you with any thoughts or questions you might have!
