When the UFC first came out I didn't like it very much. I wasn't a big fan of the concept of little or no rules. However I was intrigued by the Gracie family but didn't have the time to find out about who they were due to my young family.
I started watching the UFC again in 2006 and was impressed with the changes that were made. After attending a Georges St. Pierre seminar I was inspired to get off the couch in 2009 and learn BJJ. I consider myself very fortunate to have a Renzo Gracie academy in my home town. Now that my kids are older we train there several times a week. Being a 40 something former couch potato have no intentions of competing in the UFC and find the training gives me a deeper respect for MMA.
I would like to see more fans train in one or more aspects of MMA. I feel there is far too many individuals who do not have a health respect for MMA and I would like to see that change as the sport matures.
