I think you misread what I wrote. I said teams sked 4-5 years in advance, and some teams are certainly known to be perennial bad teams. I didn't say ND looks for bad teams to schedule. On the contrary, I believe ND actively looks for challenges.
But this year, it's obvious ex-AD White did a lousy job of scheduling. There's no way ND could assume a Temple from 4 years ago or even a Syracuse would be very challenging in 2008. Even North Carolina stunk and they hadn't hired Davis yet. Yes, Temple has improved, but they are still a doormat for elite teams.
I want to start a B/R college football poll with B/R writers as the pollsters.
