Andrew's Bio

I am not really sure if there is all that much to say about me. I read all these articles online, and then catch myself stalking other people's profiles and finding out that a lot of them are somewhat accomplished writers. I used to have a blog that I'd write on, but I never consistently logged on. I also had my own opinion column in the 8th grade school newspaper, other than that I'm just a huge sports fanatic that watches nothing but ESPN, NFL Network, NHL Network, FSN, The Office, and Family Guy. I really haven't written anything in my lifetime other than schoolwork, but I enjoy it very much...just a pretty regular guy with a lot of ideas and a few hours to spare before bed.

Also...why does everyone write their Bio in third person? Hahaha.

The Short List facts and information about Andrew Austin

Favorite Athletes

Hard working, dedicated, decent human beings...those are my favorite athletes.

Favorite Sports Teams

Pittsburgh - Penguins, Pirates, Steelers, Panthers, Duquesne Dukes, and Arizona Cardinals

All Time Sports Moment

Okay...maybe my "homerism" gets in the way sometimes, but I'd have to say one of the best moments in sports was the 1960 World Series when Bill Mazeroski hit a walk off home run in the 9th inning to win game seven, 10-9 against the New York Yankees. In 1993, Joe Carter was the only other man to hit a "walk-off" home run in a world series game to win it, that just so happened to be game six, not game seven like Big Willie did. Maz created the infamous term "walk-off homerun" and if you're a fan of baseball, you should know the famous picture of Maz rounding third and coming home in "The Shot That Shut Down the Town".

Most Memorable Game Attended

I have two unforgetable memories...both are somewhat meaningless regular season games that turned into thrillers. In 2007 I attended a Penguins vs. Flyers game in Filthadelphia. It was a back and fourth game, long story short Crosby top shelfed it to win the game in a shootout. I think next time i'll bring a gun with me to that city, not an ounce of respect for them. Also, Crosby's first breakout game as a rookie against the Montreal Canadiens which he also won in a shootout. If you do some heavy searching you will find this highlight on the internet...he popped the water bottle off the top of the net. Other than playoff games, I haven't heard Mellon Arena rock like that since Bruce Springsteen.

Most Unbreakable Sports Record

Joe DiMaggio's 56 Game Hitting Streak

Ruth or Mays?

Toss-up...I suppose Ruth? He did it on Hot Dogs and Beer, also was a pretty decent pitcher. Who else can say that...maybe someday Micah Owings.

Unitas or Montana?

Wish I could say Johnny U simply because he's from Pittsburgh. I once took care of a patient at the hospital who was the back up Quarterback for Johnny U when they played for the Bloomfield Rams, true story. Joe Montana, hands down.

Pele or Maradona?

Is this soccer? Is that even a sport?

Pac 10, Big 12, Big 10, SEC, ACC, or Big East?

I wish I could say Big East, P-I-T-T, PITT, PITT, PITT...but without question the SEC. Speed, talent, and they've averaged more than six national championships a year since 1990.
