The Short List facts and information about Dan F.

Favorite Athletes

Ted Williams, Sandy Koufax, Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine, Will Clark, Albert Pujols, Manny Ramirez

Favorite Sports Teams

Pittsburgh Steelers, Boston Red Sox, Pittsburgh Pirates, Arsenal, Boston Celtics, University of Virginia, Pittsburgh Penguins

All Time Sports Moment

Ted Williams refusing to sit a doubleheader out to protect his .400 average the final day of the season in 1941. The Splinter went 6 for 8 and hit .406 for the season. The Sox had nothing to play for and were out of the race, and instead of thinking about personal accolades all Williams thought about was the fact that the team had a game, and he should play.

Most Memorable Game Attended

Red Sox-Yankees with my dad, Fenway Park last season. Drew, Ramirez, Lowell and Varitek hit back-to-back-to-back-to back home runs. Was my dad's first trip to the park.

Most Unbreakable Sports Record

Cy Young's career wins record. No one in the modern era has a shot.

Ruth or Mays?

Ruth. Mays was ridiculous, but Ruth changed the game, and was a premier pitcher before being converted to an outfielder. No contest.

Unitas or Montana?

I refuse to answer on the basis of my religious beliefs. Seriously, to slate either one of these men is an offense to some type of deity, I'm sure.

Jordan or Russell?

You're killing me here. Russell's 11 titles, great defensive play, and enduring legacy on low post play in the NBA are legendary, but I STILL wanna be like Mike. He wasn't just the best player in the world, he was an icon and an ambassador for the sport worldwide.

Gretzky or Orr?

The Great One.

Pele or Maradona?

Pele. "The Hand of God" and coke? Please.

Federer or Sampras?

Federer. Sampras, like Federer, struggled on clay, and I think Roger will equal Sampras' totals in titles.

Tiger or Nicklaus?

This is a tough comparison too. I honestly believe the equipment makes a difference nowadays, and Nicklaus faced stiffer competition at the top of the professional golf ranks. Tiger's amazing though. Until he breaks Jack's record for majors, I'm going with Nicklaus.

Petty or Earnhardt?

Couldn't care less.

Schumacher or Senna?

See above.

Pac 10, Big 12, Big 10, SEC, ACC, or Big East?

Depends on the sports. Football, top to bottom, the SEC is the best conference currently. In basketball, I'll take the ACC, though they've had some down years lately as a conference. Baseball it's a three-way tie between the ACC, SEC and Pac 10.
