Casey 's Bio

I'm 22 years old. I spent a good portion of my time between graduation and now avoiding the progression of my life.

I've had an interest in sports media for quite some time, primarily aimed toward radio. However, a co-worker of mine pointed me in the direction of written journalism in 2006.

My influences are David Locke, Adam Carolla, John Clayton, and Michael Lewis.

I started with a Myspace dedicated to my blogs, which failed to garner any buzz. I was able to parlay the written work, however unread, into job writing for fantasyfootballjungle.com, and later walterfootball.com. I have a website www.5qsports.com, that I'll probably whore out regularly on here.

I'm a Green River Community College freshman, and Editor in Chief on our paper The Current. I have a sports column in every issue also. I'm also a member of the radio broadcasting program at GRCC, working for KGRG-FM 89.9.

I work a full time job, along with the aforementioned obligations, so as one can imagine my time is spread pretty thin. I hope to put as much exclusive material up here as I can, but a lot of it will be from other outlets that I'm involved with.

  1. Hey, I'm looking to continue my series of story collections...do you have any Safeco Field stories? If so leave me a post and thanks!

  2. Thanks for the POTD vote!

  3. No problem, Casey! Let me know if you need anything else in the future!

  4. Casey, thanks for the POTD. BTW, I like the "Casey at the Bat" tag you use. Do you only use it for baseball articles or for all your work now? I started using "Come to Think of it" just to distinguish myself but it makes my headlines more challenging because it limits the number of characters I can use in the headline text.

  5. No problem on the edit Casey. Now you've got me intrigued about your next article!

  6. Casey,

All you need is a BA in any subject. They really look at your letters of recommendation and essay you write. At least that is how Seattle U does it.

    Hope that helps!

  7. No, i missed that but i think im recording it.

But things are good. Im working on the mock more and more articles.

  8. Whats up Casey.

    Hows the recruiting going?

  9. No problem on the edit Casey. Yeah, the baby has been taking up a lot of my time, but it's good to be back on B/R. All is well, thanks for asking.

And hey, how about those Mariners? They're pretty inconsistent, but they're actually competitive, which is more than I expected.

  10. Thanks for the pick Casey.

  11. Hmmm it's back now... i don't know.

  12. What happened to my comment on your article?

    "3-4 DE’s simply aren’t that valuable."

What? Oh yeah, Richard Seymour must just be a giant waste of money for the Pats. Come on man.

I really don't think the Peppers trade happens, but who am I? I just don't think they are willing to give up what they would have to sacrifice. They would need to include players in the trade to free up cap room, as well as restructure contracts. He still has not signed the tender either.

FYI They have just under $4 Million in cap space now, and that is only the 51-player rule, not the final 53 that it will be. I just think they draft well, and trade into next year. Johnson would be an interesting pick, and I have thought about him for the Pats at 23. I am not as sold on him as you are though. I don't know if he fits the "Patriots mold" as maybe Connor Barwin would. He is my favorite player for the Pats in this draft, and no longer sure he would be available at 34. :( Don't know if they will value him at 23 or not. You really never know.

I like the Giants pick of Britt.

  13. Thanks for the pick and the add....

    Happy Super Bowl!

    Cheers!

  14. Not a problem, sir! I always enjoy your work.

And I can assure you there are a number of quality editors on this site. I guess I'm just the lucky one that gets to your work first.

  15. Casey, thanks for the pick!
