Alyssa Pereira completed her Masters in Performance Studies at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. Ms Pereira has worked across the entertainment industry in editorial, radio, record labels and in concert venues—most recently as a contributor for The Owl Magazine based in San Francisco and SPIN Magazine based in New York City. Her other recent projects include a published piece for the Latin American Music Conference at Indiana University on Cuban hip-hop artists’ utilization of American social media networks entitled “Somos Iguales: Cuban Hip-Hop in the Age of Social Networks,” and an exploration of the active soundscape in lower Manhattan during major Occupy Wall Street protests in late 2011 and early 2012 titled, “Let Freedom Ring: The Soundcapes of Social Movements.”
