Hi! I’m Sheridan Davis, an aspiring female sports journalist and freelance writer. I am a current senior at the University of Southern California majoring in American Studies and Ethnicity (I am a bit of a history/literature nerd) and minoring in Sports Media Studies. Considering I do hope to turn this education and passion into a career as a sports broadcaster, in my free time I consume a lot of sports — I watch games, read ESPN.com, attend as many games as I can, and engage in commentary with friends and fans. When I am not the living embodiment of a sports nut, I spend a lot of quality time with friends and family, who are the most important people in my life. I also have a passion and hobby for writing, and do a lot of independent and freelance work on my own to sharpen my skills. I have a goal to be a published author by the time I'm 30! In my spare time, I enjoy watching TV and movies, reading books, flipping through fashion magazines, online shopping (it's a tad addicting!), baking, and of course, working out/participating in sports myself. Unfortunately, there are never enough hours in a day, and too often I don’t get around to ALL these things I want to do, but hey, a girl’s gotta have priorities… and for me that priority is sports!
In working to start my career as a sports journalist, I have created my first blog: Sheridan’s Shorts - A Little Bit of Everything… But Mostly Sports! (www.sheridansshorts.com) I created this blog as a forum to express my (numerous) opinions and commentary on the world of sports. For this reason, Sheridan’s Shorts is mostly a call-it-as-I-see-it blog on the current state of sports, with features that will also include news and events in other worldly topics — substitute blog posts may include pop culture/entertainment, fashion, current events, etc. Basically, this is a “life through my eyes” type of expose, so you can see my thoughts and actions in real time… what you’ll come to find is that most of those thoughts and actions revolve around (you guessed it!) sports. With my undying passion for the game, I hope to one day be a sports commentator or broadcaster… and this is just the first step in the process. In a few years when I am on ESPN, you’ll remember where I got my start!
Now that you know a little about me, I hope you will return to read my thoughts and opinions on Bleacher Report and Sheridan’s Shorts often. Enjoy what you read! Let me know your thoughts, opinions, and advice by emailing me at email@example.com. In the meantime, enjoy the games and the commentary, and hope to hear from you soon! Have a wonderful day!
