Come on Ryan, why the sorry, you guys run a great site, you can't do it all, this was supposed to be a shared arena right, can I help? If you are not following any sorting algorithms like Google and doing it manually, that would be a pain staking effort.

I am grateful to be a part of this site, so please no more sorries. I think we should all pool in to make the site better, after all that is what is great about open source right. I used to be heavily involved in Sourceforge.net when I was working. Off late, got removed from the project and have to register for some more, also forgot my password and stuff as it was tied in to my corporate account. There is also freshmeat web site. And B/R being open source makes me believe that if there is any way we can help, we ought to! Can't leave all the hard work to you guys alone and enjoy the fruits.

Ryan, ref this "A failure in this department won't be for lack of effort, or the product of any sort of malicious intent."

I agree no harm was intended however, what occurred was done, as one example, by someone with zero experience writing auto racing articles and thus had no reference point to base the context of their changes on. That's unacceptable in my book and shows a complete lack of common sense on their part.

So you understand the context the headline was changed by the addition of the word "tragic" on an article telling of a couple local race drivers that were arrested by local police for an altercation on track. No one was hurt or in anyway injured except maybe pride for getting a butt kicked.

Inserting that into the headline was far outside the context of the post and when the "editor" was asked about it, given the name and link of the article feigned innocence and whined and cried like a 10 year old.

No apologies needed Ryan, for the record and in ref to this statement: "but I hope you'll at least recognize that all B/R editors will always have your best interests at heart."

I only wish that were true. Sadly it's not and I have had a couple of occasions when people have charged a title or the context of a para and completely changed the tone of a post.

Did they have my "best interests at heart?" Possibly, but at the same time in all cases it was done by someone who has no blog of their own on record here (i.e. "your website" on the profile page) and had been a very short-time members of BR and published very few articles here.

In addition to not listing F1, NASCAR or auto racing in general as their preferred sport they had not published anything on the subject and I feel that definitely contributed to their ill-advised edits.

Also for the record, as a five-year veteran of racing blogging on three separate blogs I can safely say this is the only multi-author blog of any consequence that allows people other than original authors to edit posts. From my experience and that of a couple others here it was a major mistake in doing so and the feature should have been limited to spelling a grammar errors only.

I can't say when, but as a result of long back-channel communications there is allegedly going to be changes made to the editing feature here. What they will be and when I can't say as that hasn't been passed to me.

On the other hand it takes nearly a week just to get response from the powers that be at BR just to answer simple questions, given that when or If editing changes are made are a very open question.

We'll see and if they aren't changed by the 1st of July I'm outta here.

One more thing, on the front page we would love to have ICC (International Cricket Council) next to CFB in that blank space! A cricket ticker would be fantastic.

Cricket writing is probably second only to baseball in terms of quality and we hope to produce that here on Bleachers. That would be amazing!

Hi Ryan! Great site keep up the good work.

I mentioned this to someone and they said to ask you about it. Is there any way you could think of allowing us to add our own footnotes onto the bottom of articles? I think this would help greatly as i have been using both web and books for referencing. This would allow us to be more accountable for the facts or even 'facts' we write! It would also give credit where it is due to some fantastic sources.

Apart from that could you check out the cricket section?! I have been adding a few articles and it seems to be taking off! Over here in England we enjoy games which can last for 5 days and still end up as a draw!

Nope that was my fault...I clicked too fast on the add picture button and it published the article without a photo. I pressed the back button to add the photo and tag the article and then published it again. This one was on me, but thanks for cleaning things up.

Loved the new title. Works much better.

I have many, many weaknesses, but my biggest weaknesses are titles and teasers. Sometimes it takes me longer to come up with those than it does to write the actual articles.

I was a little worried that it would come off preachy, but the reaction (for the most part) seems to be what I was shooting for...so overall I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

Good idea on the NFL divisional previews. I'll definitely organize it. The draft was fun...plus, the more hits and positive comments it gets, the more I forget how much of a pain it was to edit!!!

The Mock pushed over 3000 reads, which isn't bad at all. Overall, I'm pretty happy with it.

I actually figured it out after posted on your board last night. I just had to walk away for a few minutes. I used Word to do the formatting, which was a huge mistake. So I had to cut the entire article, paste it into notepad, then paste it back into the submission form and reformat everything.

Once I did that, it was fine. You're right, by the way, about Firefox. Works much better.

What did you think of the draft piece, overall? I thought it came out pretty good. I think we all worked pretty well together. Hopefully, if this one ends up successful, we can do more things like this.

Also, got a few of the mock draft DBs to link to it...so it'll be interesting to see how many reads we get.

Ryan,
I just posted the Mock Draft, but the formatting is a nightmare. Think you can take a look? For some reason, the font keeps messing up and the spacing is screwy...

I had to post it in two parts, because after I dropped the stuff that didn't make the cut, it was still too long for one article (the original was 25,000 words...apparently, football writers talk a lot).

Anyway, if you can fix the formatting, I would appreciate it.

Also, let me know if you like how it came out. It was HARD to edit. I started at 9pm, just finished. It's 3:30am.

Thanks for the earlier search engine tweak. I know you are swamped with this stuff, but if you have time could you give me some quick feedback on a few of my postings, especially "A Hockey Night in Canada:..." (it would be great to get feedback from someone who lives in a warmer climate for this one) and "A Touch of Class:..." (I cannot get the "a" at the beginning of the title to capitalise for some reason). They are different from my other posts in that they a bit, I don't know, sentimental rather than informative. I was also wondering if there is something I am doing/not doing that affects the viewership of induvidual articles. One of them had almost a thousand views in about a day, fought for POD and lost and spent time on the front page, while others get relatively slow/low veiewership and make the pick, but are not listed on open pages. I am flattered to get anything I can, but I was just wondering.
