Matthew's Bio

I'm a Journalism/Mass Communications major in Arizona. I've written for the Glendale Community College newspaper, The Voice, working as a sports editor and later as the managing editor. My ambition is to go into sports writing and/or broadcasting on a professional level, hopefully for the NBA.

I've always been a fan of basketball, whether it's watching, playing or writing on it. Playing is how I tore my ACL on my left knee, which was operated on in May, 2008. I'm currently doing intense rehab and physical therapy to get back to playing the sport I love.

I do public address announcing for basketball, volleyball, baseball and other athletic activities on the high school and junior college level.

  1. Thanks for the comment on my Pacific Division Preview, Matthew. The article was written for FoxSports.com and will appear on their site later this week. They asked me to keep it close to 1,000 words.

I wrote their Laker preview (also on BleacherReport.com). I had to take my 3,200 word BR version and get it down to the 1,000 word version currently on FoxSports.com: http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/8580370/Bynum%27s-return-could-bring-championship-to-Lakers

It's a lot harder than I thought it would be. If you compare the two versions you'll notice how the stuff I cut turned out to be the funniest stuff. I went for substance over style.

I look forward to reading your stuff.

    Thanks again.

    Andrew
