Spencer's Bio

Spencer is a former journalist/blogger turned PR guy who is hopelessly addicted to the tragic comedy that is the Ottawa Senators Hockey Club.
When not pining for the first ever power forward or elite goaltender in the Senators modern history, Spencer also enjoys football, where he has a potentially dangerous crush on Tom Brady.
Spencer thinks basketball is the worst sport on the planet, but has as soft spot for soccer. I know...what's up with that?

  1. Hey Spencer,

Just thought I would check in with you to let you know about some new alignment to the NHL Community Leaders.

As you know, Alan Bass, Bryan Thiel, and myself are the current Co-Community Leaders of the NHL section of this page. In order to make things a little easier for everyone, and to allow more focus on specific areas, the three of us have had our duties divided, along with Ken Armer.

Although we are still free to peruse every part of the NHL section, and are of course free to help anyone that needs it, my new designated Community Leader area is the Northeast division, which of course includes your Ottawa Senators.

Basically it doesn't really change anything on your end. If you do have any questions or whatever, I will be your guy to go to. Of course if you feel more comfortable talking to Alan, Bryan, or Ken, by all means don't hesitate.

Anyways, I thought I would send you a little note to let you know about the new alignments of the CL's. As the guy who oversees the Northeast Division, I look forward to working with you in the future.

    Keep up the good work.

  2. Hey Spencer,

Hockey Hall of Famer Scott Stevens' career ended kind of awkwardly. In January of 2004 he missed a few games with the flu and then was diagonsed with Post-Concussion-Syndrome and missed the rest of the season. He would never play again as a lockout wiped out the following season and then his official retirement in September of 2005. Truly one of the greats and my favorite athlete of all-time, I don't feel I have ever honored him the way he earned and I really hope I did it with this article- http://bleacherreport.com/articles/172153-scott-stevens-forever-beloved-forever-hated-and-forever-remembered

Let me know what you think if you get a chance, if not no worries.

  3. I was at that 1997 game when Duchesne scored to get us in the playoffs. Electric atmosphere! It's on my "Most Memorable Game Attended" as well.

  4. Sorry to see you've stopped writing. I wanted to see what your thoughts were on Campoli coming over, and if he is that puck-moving defenceman y'all've been missing.

  5. So far, I look pretty wrong on the Panthers, but it's early. Your Sens look as inconsistent as ever, so maybe we'll both be wrong...or maybe one or both of them will turn it around in the next five months.

  6. Love the Montreal Canadiens, or hate the Montreal Canadiens.

Some B/r’s Montreal’s true non-fans share with us their stories. Please comment and tell me what you favourite moment was, against the Habs.

  7. I'd write more about hockey but I have trouble finding games...oh wait!

Thanks if you get a chance

  8. Hi Spencer

I have a new Blackhawks piece, I'd love to hear from you.

    Thanks either way,

    Ray

  9. Thanks for the correction on the comment Spencer. Being in the U.S. I don't catch CBC much.

  10. Hey, man, good discussion!
And I'm sorry about Brady...okay, I'm not, but I'm sorry for your behalf, at least.

  11. thanks for the feed back. where u talking about the what the f@** part in the heading .. if so i changed it . thought it was a great way to get people to read it .

  12. thanks for the POD vote, spencer, i really appreciate it

  13. http://mvn.com/nhl-mapleleafs/2008/05/28/61/

Check that out, because you should probably know I'm not a Burke support—in fact I live in fear of him.

That article was more to say that in handing Ron Wilson the job almost certifies Brian Burke coming to Toronto....I'm just as sick of it as you are though not to worry..

  14. Bryan, no I don't and that is consistent with my point about Pittsburgh delusions of grandeur.

IMHO a dynasty requires a significant amount of championships in a short period of time with few if any interruptions.

Detroit had three over a six year period from 1997-2002, which is still not enough in my mind.

Usually the championships should be in a row, and generally 3 or more in order to get such a lofty title.

The New England Patriots and the Edmonton Oilers both had one year slip-ups in their championship strings but I would call them both dynasties.

The title dynasty should be very hard to achieve, and now with the cap is even harder, which is why to even begin to contemplate thinking about pondering the idea that Pittsburgh could be one is frankly asinine.
