My name is John McDown, and I am not really a writer for sport as much as I just love to put my thoughts into form about basketball. I don't write about any other sports. I am an absolute basketball junkie, to the point where people make fun of me and I have to shrug it off. I have been involved with organized hoops since I was in 4th grade, and it's been non-stop ever since. My basketball career stopped sometime after my freshman year in junior college when my admiration for watching and disecting the game became greater than my will to play competitive ball. So now I play pick-up, then come home and watch games, and write about it. I get my fill this way.
I am originally from Irvine, California and I lived there the majority of my life. I moved to Oklahoma for family reasons when I was 21 years old, and now I'm going to school at the University of Central Oklahoma studying Business Administration. I want to make a lot of money one day so I can get a 60 inch television and watch all the games I want in high-definition.
My all-time favorite team is the Chicago Bulls, because they started me in basketball when I was a youngster, and I stuck with them. Jordan did that for a lot of people, but not a lot of those folks stuck with the Bulls. I did. Maybe I shouldn't have though, because they are terrible. I also love the Lakers because I'm from southern California so it' a given, and Kobe is one of my favorite players ever. Tim Duncan is my favorite player of all-time, so naturally I find myself rooting for the Spurs a great deal.
