Matthew's Bio
Sports Guru in my own mind
But seriously...I'm a 25 year old firefighter/paramedic living in Garland, Texas (suburb of Dallas). I'm a life-long, diehard, for richer or poorer, sickness and in health Texas Rangers and Texas Longhorns fan. I love my other teams, very much, but Hook'em Horns and GO RANGERS!
Been a baseball player my entire life, in high school I was C/1B, scorekeeper, and assistant coach...we only had one coach most of the time. Worked baseball for the Texas Longhorns in their 2002 NCAA Championship season. And I will sit in section 41, Row 4, Seat 1 when the Texas Rangers win their first World Series...can't be much longer now.

man what was Washington thinking last night brinking in a pitcher who has never pitched before in a 1 run game at Yankee Stadium. Thats just desitned to be a failure.

Hi Matt,
I totally agree. The 1-4 spots appear to have finally been solidified with a bunch of talent waiting in the wings. But as we know, it all depends on the pitching. It might be worth it to look at trading a few of the veterans down the road for some younger pitching talent, IMO. Anyway, look forward to reading your stuff in the future.

Hey Matt, thanks for the welcome. I really enjoyed your "Hey Joe" article, it's dead on with how attendees (many cannot be called fans) in Dallas aren't interested in the actual product but rather in their own self-promotion. I'll be weighing in on the Rangers a fair amount, but unfortunately I'll have to take a break this weekend....they're playing my Mets!

Wow! Congrats on your latest article being on top of the most commented section, that's awesome! (I told you it was good.) -Jim ;)

Thanks for the add. I imagine it's a pity ploy aimed at bolstering my bearded, beanie-wearing, drunken, tattooed spirit (not to mention the, well, you know). I'll take what I can get! HaHa!

I think I majored in it. Can't really remember. Where did I go to school?

Matthew, the Cleveland fans are really very good. But like everywhere else, there's that 2 percent of fools that make the whole city look ridiculous. You wouldn't want to wear a Steelers jersey in the Dawg Pound, and I also wouldn't recommend taking your elementary school kids to sit in that section, but the rest of the stadium is great...

Matt, I'd love to read an article based on the hysteria of high-school football in Texas.
I've heard the legends of how out of control it can get, but I'd like to read your thoughts on it, since you actually live in Texas.
Being Canadian, I've seen first-hand how nuts Canucks can get about hockey, but from some of the stories I've heard and read, I'd say Texas's love for football even surpasses a Canadians love for puck.

I think a lot of people could do a better job with the Rangers. Have to give him credit where its due though. He has done a good job with the Stars.

lol well when I was a kid I got caught up in a Kansas City Chiefs Playoff Run. I lived there at the time and the city was nuts that year. This was back when they had montana and marcus allen. Then I moved to dallas

Wow, that was a crazy series! It was nice to at least split. The Rangers just keep coming at you with the bats, it was crazy....Millwood gave you just what you needed, and was able to keep the game close until the offense battered our bullpen again.
Anyway, I am rooting for the Rangers in the West. It would be nice to see new blood come October from the division. Hopefully the pitching can make it, it had to be just as brutal as a Rangers fan watching your staff get lit up too.

It went about as planned, just the wrong way...lol...anyway, hopefully tonight will be less brutal to watch and be a normal game. I don't think the bullpens can take much more.
I couldn't believe that Hamilton hadn't been walked intentionally all season. My jaw dropped when the Indians announcers said that. I bet that it will start happening more often now. Well, good luck to the Rangers tonight, you been at any of the games?

lol.....I couldn't believe last night myself. We can't score more than a run or two a game for like a month, and then BAM, 13 runs. And Casey Blake! Wow! ANyway, tonight will be interesting with Jake Westbrook now on DL. The Indians bullpen likely will be pitching the whole game. And Padilla is out for the Rangers. Could be 13-9 again...

Unfortunately there's no true built-in way for you to get your work reviewed before it's published. However, I would highly suggest you try to develop a personal relationship with one (or more) of our editors and send your articles to them via email for pre-publication review. Hope this helps!
