Matt's Bio
I'm an 18 year old student at the University of Maryland, studying whatever I feel like.
I've played soccer since I was 4, so if you think there's a little bias towards it in my articles, this is the reason. Also, I'm not one of those assholes that constantly bitches about how the MLS isn't as good as the European leagues. No shit, the Football League has been around since 1888, so we're only 108 years behind them. Coincidentally, this is the same year Celtic FC was founded, and I've been a huge fan for the past few years.
Speaking of favorite teams, I should probably list mine. DC United will always be number 1, as I've lived in the area my whole life, and I can remember watching DC win the MLS Cup when I was 7 in 1996. Other teams include Arsenal FC, the previously mentioned Celtic FC, Werder Bremen SV, Munster Rugby, Baltimore Orioles(a default, I don't really like baseball, but the O's have always been my team, and the Nats can never replace them), and I support Kimi Raikkonen and Petter Solberg in racing.
I have a few sports I hate. First, professional basketball and hockey absolutely tilt me. 82 games of meaningless regular season, all so teams can have a knockout playoff system to determine a champion. Call me unAmerican, but shouldn't the champion be the team that wins the most during the season? Second, baseball. I once played, but I quit at age 10. The game is far too slow, and the season way too long. 162 games? Ridiculous. Third, WNBA. OK, that was just a dagger at women's basketball, but if there's a women's basketball team playing that doesn't have Maryland or Terrapins on it, I really don't give a shit. Fourth, NASCAR is an absolute travesty. Back in the day, the old "race on Sunday, sell on Monday" cars made it exciting, and drivers used to be men. Now, with tube frame racers, limited engine development, and a standardized "Car of Tomorrow", the fun has been taken out of racing. Besides, left turns for 3 hours bores the hell out of me.
In my free time, I watch sports, play sports, enjoy video games, and going out to parties. Being in college has many advantages to those in the real world, such as being free of real responsibility besides getting grades and graduating.

Hey Matt, I noticed you posted a comment about finding Celtic fans in DC. Did you know there is a Celtic Supporters Club there?
Thought it might be of use to you if you weren't familiar. http://www.dccsc.com/

Yeah, I picked Pele over Maradona after going through a grueling selection process.
Have I heard of Pele? Yes
Have I heard of Maradona? No
Game, set, match: Pele
