I grew up in Omaha, NE. When I was younger I never really paid much attention to college ball...okay...the Huskers, until I met a guy when I was 17 and his mom would watch. I was really taken back by her passion for the game...I remember the first thing she said to me when I meet her, "If you don't like Husker football your not welcome in this house." Of course, at the time, she was watch a game. lol So, with her, I watched...and fell in love.
My first home game was with my younger brother at a NU/OU game, the 21st Anniversary of "The Game of the Century." That was the best day I ever had in my life and I was able to share it with my younger brother. We never made it back for another home game together, he passed away 5 years later. You see....he served in the Marines and all the years he served we never missed a game together, no matter where he was stationed, we would sit on the phone and watch it, together . I miss that so much. I miss him calling and saying, "I hope you saw that...that was so frigg'n awesome!!!"
The day we went to the game we made a pack that we would bring our boys to a game...well I tell ya...come hell or high water I am going to fulfill his part of the pack. So I watch or listen to every game... with him...I ask from time to time if he has any connection up there if he could put in a good word for the Husker...lol...Sometimes he comes through. Sometimes..not so much. As far as I'm concerned he will always be watching....with me.
