This is Mark Jones, the Carolina Hurricanes Featured Columnist. I’m going to be writing an article this week discussing possible players that from the Hurricanes that could be traded in the next couple months, as well as other players from other teams that would fit in well in Carolina. I looked through the NHL.com statistic pages for players that fit several characteristics, including: (1) at or below age 25, (2) low penalty minutes, (3) a very good +/- rating of +7 or better, and (4) a solid defensive style, but not so good that the player would be too hard for a weak team like the Canes to acquire. I noticed that your rookie defenseman Cody Franson from the Preds fit these requirements nicely and from the little bits I've heard, sounds like a high-potential player, but since the's a lesser player on a team I don’t cover well, I thought perhaps I could get a better opinion of Franson’s playing style and your feelings on him.
