I'm a 22-year-old college graduate, born and raised in the DC Metropolitan area but my roots in Western PA make me a die-hard Pittsburgh Penguins fan.

Definitely not a pleasant combo.

Loyalties aside, I am a hockey fan first despite having never played organized hockey. This is a sport I played in Barbie sneakers on my driveway when I wasn't playing soccer; essentially, it was a fun thing to do in my spare time. To this day, hockey is something I enjoy watching and learning about which is what I want to show in my articles in the hopes of making hockey writing a part of my future.

    Laura- I have to give you credit...I had an awesome time this week in Pitt. and at least got to see the big win over the Thrashers at the Consol......But, I dont know how you can live in DC. I have never met more obnoxious people in my life than what I saw in my hotel and throughout the Burgh. Just complete idiots. I won't even get into the lack of any hockey knowledge whatsoever. As much as I hate the Flyers and their fans, the Caps are just completely useless. Forget about them not knowing anything about other teams, they don't even know their own teams players. They are the clowns of the NHL I will fill you in on some of what I saw this week, but again we had a great time!

    I have really come to the conclusion that most Pens fans just discovered hockey within the last 3-5 years. ..The 2 games this weekend are must wins. I just hope Orpik is back and healthy.
