Samuel's Bio

My name is Samuel Lee Smith. I am 16 and I love all sports that involve the University of North Carolina. My favorite sports to watch have to be football and basketball my favorite sports to play are baseball and Ultimate Frisbee. Like most ACC fans I don't think any conference can ever be better in any sport except football. I live in the south central part of North Carolina in a city called Laurinburg, which for you golf fans is about 25 minutes south of Pinehurst and for you military people 45 minutes southwest of Fayetteville. My love for college sports is only outdone by my love for high school football. I like to run cross country, even though I am only a mediocre runner. My favorite sports moments were when UNC won the national title in 2005 and when the Carolina Hurricanes won the Stanley Cup in 2006. I love sports movies, my favorite being the movie Rudy because it is such a reminder of what hard work and determination can bring you. I tend to root for the underdogs in all sporting events if one of my favorite teams is not involved. I HATE THE YANKEES AND THE RED SOX! I long for the day when people stop watching Sportscenter on ESPN, because it is garbage. Besides sports I love the beach and rock music.

  1. Stick shift anyone?

  2. Totally understandable... I get that way about my teams sometimes, too. And with some people on this website, you really want to respond that way. No worries, keep up the writing and commenting.

  3. Please be civil in your comments. I appreciate that you don't agree with me, but I'd be more inclined to change my opinion if you refuted my comments politely instead of attacking me personally.

Ad hominem arguments help no one, and only make you look like a hot-headed fan who can't see others' points of view (which I'm sure you are not). Take it easy, man.

By the way, I enjoyed your first article the other day.

  4. Drive by is a good term. Let me know when you write something, since I am looking forward to reading more from you--I make it a policy not to be someone's "fan" until I read multiple things they like, so I look forward to being able to add you soon! May God bless you, too.

  5. Don't let the negative responses of some fans who were offended by your inclusion of their team discourage you. Trust me, getting that much traffic for your article means you did well in picking subject and title--that's half the battle. A little more research and going more in-depth will help fend off those attacks, and most criticisms I have encountered are much more constructive, especially from long-term members of the site. (That generic profile photo next to a comment is often a harbinger of bad news.)

  6. nice to see you made this a family affair, let me know if you need help getting set up
