About Chris »

Chris Pennant is an old-schooler in a youngblood's body: the sacrifice bunt is more valuable than a home run, center field should be referred to as "the garden," and Roos are the best baseball cleats of all time. His greatest regret? He never made it to a game at Old Comiskey Park. Second greatest? He only went to one Sox game in 2005--against the Royals.

I'm finishing up my sophomore year at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. Lifelong South Sider from Chicago, my favorite team is the Chicago White Sox and as the song goes, " whoever plays the Cubs." Love all sports(even hockey can be exciting), but baseball is my first love. Teams: White Sox, Bears, Bulls, Blackhawks, Bradley Braves, and the Fighting Illini.

Oh, and Sundays, contrary to popular opinion, are for bowling.

Have some choice words for the Kid? Shoot me an e-mail at jakestanley17@yahoo.com. Please make sure you put Bleacher Report in the e-mail title; I get way too much spam.

The Shortlist »

  • Favorite Athletes

Frank Thomas, Michael Jordan, Carl Lewis, Norm Duke, Patrick Allen

  • Favorite Sports Teams

White Sox, Bears, Bulls, Bradley Braves, Illinois Fighting Illini, Northwestern Wildcats, Southern Illinois Salukis.

  • All Time Sports Moment

  • Most Memorable Game Attended

White Sox game in 1997; Ray Durham and Mike Caruso hit back-to-back homers as the Sox beat Texas, 8-7. I was 9 years old.

  • Most Unbreakable Sports Record

I would say Cal Ripken's record, but no one's going to score 100 points in an NBA game.

  • Ruth or Mays?

    Say Hey to the Kid.

  • Unitas or Montana?

Not a Notre Dame fan, but gotta go with Joe.

  • Pele or Maradona?

    Pele, baby.

  • Pac 10, Big 12, Big 10, SEC, ACC, or Big East?

Big 10. Anything else is too civilized.

I'm a Featured Columnist for the Indians here on Bleacher, and I'm polling the FCs from other MLB teams for an upcoming article on what went wrong with the 2009 Indians from an outsider's perspective.

Your participation in a brief survey for the article would be greatly appreciated.

Here is the link to the survey:

Hey Chris,

I wrote a piece in May highlighting the position players that I thought should make the all star team. I started a 2-part follow up piece today focusing on starting pitchers. I started with AL. If you get the chance, I'd appreciate it if you took a look at it. Thanks
