I am a 3 time graduate of the University of Nevada and hold a BS in biology, MS in Physiology and Biochemistry as well as an MD. I am board certified in internal medicine and practiced general internal medicine for nearly 30 years. I also hold a Master's Degree in Management from the University of Southern California - Marshall School of Business. During my career I have held faculty appointments at the University of Nevada, University of Pennsylvania, Oregon Health Sciences University and Providence Portland Medical Center. Prior roles include Chief Executive Officer at St. Alphonsus Medical Group in Boise, Idaho, Vice President of Medical Affairs at Clear Choice Health Plans in Bend, Oregon and Medical Director of the Providence Ambulatory Care and Education Center in Portland, Oregon. With over 50 publications in medical and management journals including the Archives of Internal Medicine, Annals of Internal Medicine, Journal of the American Medical Association, New Jersey Medicine, The Physician Executive Journal of Medical Management; The Professional Skier, Ski Patrol Magazine and 32 Degrees, I have long enjoyed writing about topics that interest me and am a fanatic football fan. As a Nevada alum, I will always bleed silver and blue. Other accomplishments include attaining Alpine Level 3 certification from the Professional Ski Instructors of America. From 2009 to 2013 I wrote 103 articles for Bleacher Report and generated nearly 175,000 reads, 35 awards and over 500 reader comments. In February 2013, I took second place in the top writer competition for the San Francisco 49ers on B/R. I am most proud of having been one of the first writers to provide national exposure for Colin Kaepernick in 2009 well before most professional writers took note. The one bit of unfinished work I would have liked to accomplished was to see Jon Arnett enshrined in the NFL Pro Football Hall of Fame. I am grateful to B/R for allowing me to write these articles.

Shame on those who were being critical of minor issues. I have seen a lot worse on different articles. It looks like you receive the most reads on here so dont worry. Just keep writing. Hopefully I can become a featured columnist on B/R one day. I love commenting and engaging in heated debate, even though some people on B/R are extremely vulgar and malicious at times. So you were saying you are "just" a doctor? lol. Looking forward to you next article Mike.

Go 49ers!
You Sir, are the MAN! Great reads. By the way, I played against Kaep in High School. I am from the same area. Please do not stop writing. Go 49ers!
Although I was a journalism major (at least for the first year), I don't have an interest in writing in-depth articles about a wide array of sport topics. If I wrote anything, it would be about my local teams and athletes (Ravens, Orioles). I enjoy reading the articles on B/R and writing brief comments & responses to some of the other readers/commenters. I have read many of your articles; they show the passion you have for your chosen topic. Just read your article on the top ten running backs. Personally, I think Barry Sanders was better than Emmitt Smith, but I can't blame you for not getting everything right :-)
Well, at least I have one fan now (everybody has to start somewhere). I certainly didn't make any from all of the 49er fans that I irritated last week.
Is this your best attempt towards a pick-up line? (Despite this sub-par effort, it's working :)
Michael, I see that I'm one of your favorite writers. Everyone should have taste as good as yours! :- )
