About

I played soccer at Wheeling Jesuit back in the 1980s. I majored in criminal justice and spent some time in the Marines following school, so afterward I took the natural career progression and joined the staff of a weekly newspaper. Fun work, but I decided I also liked having money for groceries, so I left publishing for defense contracting. Having earned enough to feed my kid, now he can play soccer as well. My involvement in the game had been relegated to coaching, until now.

Maybe it's just midlife crisis calling, but I seem to be backtracking with the journalism bit. Who knows, maybe I'll even start playing again. (Actually that's not likely, because I'm reminded every week I can't even run with 14-year-olds anymore, sigh.)
