  • All Time Sports Moment

Anaheim Ducks Championship Rally: June 9th, 2007. Being a Ducks fan has not been easy for their first fourteen years of existence. They were mostly unsuccessful and constantly the butt of jokes regarding their Disney roots. During that time, they were also overshadowed by the (somewhat) more successful LA Kings down the freeway. Karma finally paid off, and I was at the arena with over 15,000 other fans to welcome our team and the Stanley Cup. The city spared no expense, using a police helicopter to give the Cup a action movie-style entrance. California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger even stayed the entire time to give a rousing victory speech. Afterwards, I got photos taken and autographs from Ducks TV broadcaster Brian Hayward, and Ducks players like JS Giguere. It was basically the ultimate fan experience, and worth the fourteen years of waiting and agony.

  • Most Memorable Game Attended

NHL 2006 Western Conference Finals-Game 5: May 27th, 2006. This was the last ever game played by the Ducks under the "Mighty Ducks" name and logo. At the time, many fans felt upset about the big change. I also took a friend of mine to his first ever live NHL game, to foster his longtime fascination with the Mighty Ducks. The building was rocking, as the crowd boisterously chanted "USA! USA!" before the national anthems began (it was Memorial Day). This was a must-win game against the Edmonton Oilers, and the crowd was the loudest I've ever heard in person. When the Ducks lost, there was a deep sense of somber sadness around the Arrowhead Pond. The next Fall, everything they knew about their team would be changed, from uniforms to even the arena's name. There was a happy ending however, as the Ducks traded for the Oiler's best player Chris Pronger and won the Stanley Cup the next year!

Hey Anthony—Jeff here, a Bleacher Report Community Coordinator.

I've been spending time on our Hockey page and read a couple of your old articles. Really on-point analysis...you do good work.

Given that you haven't written in a while, I thought I'd check in and see if you're interested in picking up your coverage again. What do you say?

If not, it would be great if you could give me some feedback on why you decided to stop writing and what we could have done to better serve you. If you wouldn't mind, please shoot me a line at jeff@bleacherreport.com with any thoughts.

    Thanks so much,

    Jeff

I remember that logo well! Unfortunately I don't think the Knights will be coming back anytime soon, the current state of the sport in Britain means starting up a new team or restarting an old one doesn't really happen much, and there isn't a rink in London small enough for the team to fill. Its a shame though, as I think the capital really should have a team!
