Samuel's Bio

Hi, my name is Samuel Hotchkiss, but you can call me Sam. I was born and raised in the St. Louis area, making me a lifelong fan of Cardinals baseball. After finishing high school, I moved to the Los Angeles area to attend Azusa Pacific University, where I am a sociology major. Though I do love it out here in LA, I will always be most loyal to my hometown Cardinals. I love music (particularly U2, Radiohead, R.E.M., and the Pixies), politics, and movies (The Godfather, The Usual Suspects, and Persepolis just to name some favorites). Other than writing on Bleacher Report, the TV show Lost pretty much takes up my life. I hope you enjoy the thinking man's (or woman's) game of baseball as much as I do, and I thank you for taking the time to read my stuff. Keep it real, and if you live in the Midwest, go to Steak'n'Shake for me!

The Short List facts and information about Samuel Hotchkiss

Favorite Athletes

Albert Pujols. Enough said. But other than him: Rick Ankiel, Adam Wainwright, Jose Oquendo (I knew you'd like that one), Pedro Martinez, Greg Maddux, John Smoltz, Luis Gonzales, Kurt Warner, John Elway, Brett Favre, TO's Touchdown dances.

Favorite Sports Teams

The St. Louis Baseball Cardinals. Yep. I also kinda like: the Los Angeles Dodgers, the LA Clippers (take that Kobe!), and whatever team QB Kurt Warner plays for in the NFL.

All Time Sports Moment

Tom Cruise jumping on Oprah's couch. Other than that, Albert Pujols hitting that HUGE home run off of Brad Lidge in Game 5 of the 2005 NLDS. And we didn't even win that series...

Most Memorable Game Attended

Watching Steve Kline close out the playoff berth-clinching game in 2001 for the Cards against the Astros. That was intense.

Most Unbreakable Sports Record

Joe DiMaggio's 56 game hitting streak. Not even 'roids can beat that one.

Ruth or Mays?

Mays all the Ways.

Unitas or Montana?

Hmmm. I'm gonna go with Unitas on this one...

Pele or Maradona?

Pele. But I don't know jack about soccer; I'm American.

Pac 10, Big 12, Big 10, SEC, ACC, or Big East?

Big 12. M-I-Z...but I also like UCLA in the Pac 10.
