A diehard baseball fan my entire life, I am living proof that high school teams always have a spot for a lefty pitcher, regardless of how soft they actually throw. I took up sportswriting during my undergrad years and developed my technique while in grad school as a way to keep my sanity in what would otherwise have been a stressful time. Prior to the Bleacher Report, I was a member of the blogging community at the Sporting News under the nickname aajoe7. In addition to baseball, I cover college sports for Smartphones Technologies, which produces the College SuperFans and College Football Scoreboard apps.

    Hi Joe.

    I saw you commented on a story a week or so ago about the best free agents in each team's history. It got me thinking about guys who were more traditional free agents as we know the term today. Not guys signed by the team or picked up as an amateur, especially.
