Long's Bio

Hi – Am Long J. Silver. I am responsible for the Tennis domain in Bleachers. My interests are tennis, f-1, media and tabloids. ANYTHING Tennis on Bleachers – ask me and I would love to help.

Am looking for someone to help me out with the women's tennis domain - any interested parties CONTACT me?

I love to discuss about the actual mechanics of the game, as much as the psychology behind it. I am balanced, I have my favorites, but am true to the event, neither over-board nor melo-dramatic. Love balanced articles.

If you and I watched the same game, I like to write about what you did not see during the game that I was able to perceive. That is indeed the sign of interesting journalism.

Some special mentions: Cap Z (Zander) for providing us with such an invaluable opportunity to write about sports that we are passionate about. Jeff Gorman, my perennial editor who has helped me develop as a writer, and Alex Dimond too. Last but not the least my good mate Burton D … and Shaq for his creativity and sense of humor which I can connect with elegantly.

The Chef (LJ) for his Nouvelle cuisine and his conflict resolution skills - he is awesome. Paul and Sara for just being who they are. Also my favorite writer in here ... love her style (Lise). She reminds of Rodge - Elegance .... there are millions of way you can phrase a sentence, and she phrases it the exact way that I would ve phrased it .... Elegance - Elegance

On the personal front –

I study energy – economics for a living. I love to cook Italian cuisine, play the guitar, music is the fuel that drives my engine, love dark stouts and good dry red vino (Cabernet and Shiraz). A sucker for Italian food and a good hazelnut cappuccino, anyday. Love to travel and imbibe new cultures too.

Love S&M - Symphony and Metallica. The entire album is refreshingly novel and incredibly revolutionary for it’s a fusion of two absolutely bipolar genres of music, Symphony and Heavy Metal. I am kind of new age, hence I take more to S&M, Load, Reload ... as well as Black Album and Master of Puppets.

Does not hurt that it sounds - consummately Regale and Aristocratic ... Cheers to Michael Kamen, San Francisco Orchestra, James, Jason, Kirk and Lars. I am a bit of a self-confessed metal-head, with pitch black (some times torn) tee's monopolizing my closet ....

Actually know every single note in the entire S&M ...

When you have time, try Metallica's new work - 'Death Magnetic'. Try 'The Day That Never Comes' and 'Unforgiven 3'.

cheers -

  7. Ok, will keep you informed, still waiting to hear from LJ.

  8. Thanks Long, you are still numero uno though! Have asked LJ if he is ok for me to call him on the phone and go over the issues with the Hall. Would like to do the same with you, if that is fine with you. Sometimes, one needs to talk things through.

  11. LJS: Thanks again for the comments on my NASACAR article. It takes a big Tennis lovin' man to even think about reading a stock car article, much less comment on it. I appreciate it so much! Love your writing, I will now be able to get back in touch with my inner player through your work!

  14. Hey LJS,
I understand, but I'm not happy with it.

I was just put-aback seeing him on the main page over articles written by people I respect here. Very upsetting.
