Dave's Bio
I was born in Los Angeles, but moved to the DC area when I was still a baby. I lived most of my life in the DC area, raised by my New England-native parents. Dad is a baseball man through and through- where most kids had stuffed animals in their crib, I had a baseball. I started playing sports with Teeball at age 4, and have since played organized baseball, softball, basketball, soccer, roller hockey, football, and rugby, not to mention a few years of track. In high school, I participated in JV and Varsity track, football, basketball, and baseball. I attended college at the University of Maryland-Baltimore County, where I got a B.A. in psychology while playing club baseball and rugby (it was the closest thing to football the school had to offer). Right after graduation, I married a good ol' southern girl who convinced me to move to Tennessee, and I went back to school at UT to get a Master's in Mental Health Counseling. I'm still in Tennessee, passing my time playing softball, basketball, and flag football, all while trying to find a men's baseball league- at least, this is what I do when I'm not working as a therapist for disturbed children at an alternative school. I have also coached basketball, softball, and soccer. My teams are the Terps, Wizards, Redskins, and Nats, not to mention the Vols and the Red Sox (that one comes courtesy of my father).

I run a site: http://utvolsfootball.blogspot.com and we like to do interviews. (under Reg. Feat.) I was trying all basketball season to get an interview and nothing came through. I was just wondering how often you talked to Chris, if maybe we could set something up with him (all questions from fans) to show him we care and support him and also wish him luck with any possible NBA career. I really think it would be a great way for fans to show him their support, while him interacting with the fans. If it falls through, no big deal but I just saw that you knew him and thought what the heck. Great article,by the way, I will continue to read your stuff.
Thanks.

Dave -
Thanks for the read and for the note. I do like Simmons and his NBA stuff is very good. For dry wit and very astute observations, though, I prefer Kelly Dwyer over at Ball Don't Lie. The gentleman also produces a lot more than Simmons and it's always high-quality.

That was a wonderful read, and an impressive first article. I look forward to more good pieces from you in the future.
