Atlanta Thrasher Coach John Anderson Is Focused on Winning
11/24/2009
Warren has always had a great love for sports, particularly hockey. As a young man he played on hockey teams in Detroit, Michigan. Going to high school across from Olympia Stadium he had the opportunity to
meet many Hall of Fame players and watch them practice. He and his friends became particularly close
to Bugsy Watson, then a Detroit Red Wing player. After graduating from high school he attended Western Michigan University. Shaw majored in Public Administration and became a staff writer for the college newspaper. After graduating Warren went to work for Ford Motor Company and wrote freelance sports
articles for several newspapers and magazines. Shaw currently writes for Center Ice Magazine, The Hockey Writer and Examiner.com. He also is a member of the board of directors for THE SOCIETY OF NORTH AMERICAN HOCKEY HISTORIANS AND RESEARCHERS (SONAHHR).
Greg: This was a great read. I really enjoyed it and loved Shanny in a Detroit uniform.
Coach John Anderson is proving himself to be a leader to be reckoned with in his short tenure as The Atlanta Thrasher bench boss...
Hi Warren!
Thanks for commenting on my Polonich piece. I see by your profile that you went to H.S. near Olympia Stadium. That was Detroit Northwestern, correct? The same H.S. of Willie Horton and Ron Johnson and Alex Johnson? Or am I getting my schools mixed up?
Anyhow, thanks for chiming in. Enjoyed your recounting of the McCourt/Vachon thing. The Red Wings thought they had the missing piece when they signed Rogie, but turns out he was over the hill! Beginning of another slide down another slipper slope for the "Dead Things"!
