Yesterday the Yankees added seven players to their 40-man roster, protecting them from the Rule 5 draft. They also removed Shelley Duncan from the roster and outrighted him to Triple-A...

He may not have needed to 'step foot in the outfield', but Matsui's contributions were huge. I personally think they were even important outside the lines.
