Mike Levitt

Mike is a freelance journalist from Stamford, CT, mainly writing for the Hearst Connecticut Media Group. B/R is the perfect avenue to write about a variety of issues that aren't a part of the day job.

As an American, his first love is baseball, but the 1994 World Cup was a world football awakening. And he has never looked back. He lives and breathes the world's game, with an obvious interest in American successes abroad.

Look to check out his blog, Beyond the Pitch: Inside the World Cup, LIVE from South Africa. There will be match recaps everyday and up-to-date analysis of the tournament.

The goal of the blog is to give American sports fans that don't know about soccer but are interested in following the World Cup a place to get all the info. Not only this, but he will be writing about all the culture and crazy fans that have congregated in South Africa for the world's greatest sporting event.

It's that time of year again! Time to vote for your B/R World Football Writer of the Year. A final shortlist of 10 has been devised with great difficulty, and now you can vote for who you think deserves the accolade! Let the voting commence!

If you haven't seen it already, I have written the first of many "decade in review" pieces, and this one looks at Liverpool's top 15 matches of the noughties. Have a look and see what you think, you might be surprised at what ISN'T number one!
