Top Ten NFC East Perfomers through Nine Weeks
11/12/2009
I'm 24 year old sports addict from Los Angeles, but currently living in Las Vegas. I attended the University of Pennsylvania and played (or more accurately practiced) football there for two seasons and part of my Junior year. I played (practiced) Tight End due to my ability to catch the ball, but my complete inability to block anybody bigger than a 4th grader ultimately led to my demise. I then devoted the rest of my time to graduating with honors with a degree in Philosophy, Political Science, and Economics, as well as imbibing alcohol at occasionally alarming rates. I never did any formal journalistic writing in either high school or college, but I love writing and I love sports, and feel like that's got to count for something. The most formal thing I've ever written was my honors thesis, which analyzed the inherent difficulties in the war in Iraq, and compared the theoretical solutions on how to overcome those obstacles to the actual methods being utilized both in the conflict and the drafting of Iraq's constitution.
I have moved tons of places and didn't really settle in one place until Los Angeles in 7th grade. That would explain my scattered allegiances, as my little brother was born in Dallas (Go Cowboys), my Dad and his family are from Chicago and I lived there from 1990-1993 (Go Bulls), and I really didn't give a whizz about baseball until high school when I lived in Los Angeles (Go Dodgers). Suffice it to say, it has been a pretty miserable decade to be a fan of those three teams. An unfortunate prerequisite in attending Penn is that you have to live in Philadelphia. So I want to say I have a soft spot in my heart for Philly's teams and fans, but I want to replace the term "soft spot" with the strongest possible term that means the opposite of "soft spot." To make a long story short, saying the Phillies knocking off the Dodgers in the playoffs and then having the Eagles obliterate the Cowboys out of the playoffs was a devastating 1-2 punch would be an understatement of biblical proportions.
Pats/Colts, Brady vs. Manning, a possible NFC upset and much much more in Week 10!!!

DeleteHey Mike,
At some point, we need to see that the NFC isn't just a group of frauds. If you have time, please check out my column. Thanks!
