Simon's Bio

A student at the UK's top sports Uni, Loughborough University, Simon is a budding Pentathlete and an FA referee in his spare time. He studies English and Technical Journals for his degree.

Simon is a season ticket holder at the Valley, home of Charlton Athletic, and is a red red robin, through and through!

He is hoping that his articles on the laws of the game, and analysis of refereeing behaviour may highlight areas in the game which require improvement, or at the very least encourage some healthy debate!

Simon has quite a few football related projects on the go. one of his latest ventures is an attempt to get real footballers more recognised for their efforts on and off the pitch: and it starts with Chris Powell of Charlton Athletic: getting him a Knighthood!

For anyone so inclined to vote: http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/Sir-C-Powell/

On that note, he's off to Charlton! COME ON YOU REDS!

The Short List What Simon thinks about sport's most pressing questions

  • Favorite Athletes

    Steve Backley, Sebastian Coe

  • Favorite Sports Teams

Charlton Athletic, Crawley Town, New England Patriots.

  • All Time Sports Moment

Chris Powell of Charlton Athletic scoring at the Valley, 2006 - he looked to the heavens and cried "that was for Andrew".

  • Most Memorable Game Attended

Sunderland VS Charlton Athletic, 1997/98 Divison One Play-off final. Charlton won 7-6 on penalties after a Clive Mendonca hat-trick made it 4-4 in extra time.

  • Most Unbreakable Sports Record

Highest scoring score draw in English football: Charlton Athletic 6 - 6 Middlesborough (1st Divison, 1960). OR... Shortest serving manager, Leroy Rosenior, 10 minutes (Torquay United, 17 May 2007).

  • Pele or Maradona?

Pele - although I respect Maradona hugely, I fear his "hand of god" counts against his legend status.

  10. Hey Simon—Dave Mo here, a Bleacher Report Community Coordinator.

I've been spending time on our World Football pages and read a couple of your old articles. Really on-point analysis...you do good work.

Given that you haven't written in a while, I thought I'd check in and see if you're interested in picking up your coverage again. What do you say?

If not, it would be great if you could give me some feedback on why you decided to stop writing and what we could have done to better serve you. If you wouldn't mind, please shoot me a line at dmorrison@bleacherreport.com with any thoughts.

    Thanks so much,

    Dave Mo
